is BB full time experience required for Hedge fund Entry? I need some help.

I am somewhat new to the job search world so I would like to ask a few questions:

I am guessing the many hedge funds take guys (or gals) that have had some experience ideally at a BB bank. That way they have to do less training.

Personally, I have about 12 monthes of internship experience at a BB wealth management( 1 summer and 1 extended into regular year) I was doing basic stuff kinda like an assistant. But not full time. I graduated in 09.

This is my question:

1) Is it possible for me to get an entry level job at a hedge fund? and is it worth it . I dont want to take a job unless I have the possiblity of being able to move up after hard work and time ( I dont want to be stuck as an assistant for 10 years).

What do you guys think?

amarigold:
you have GREAT chance of getting a hedge fund job in their toilet cleaning crew department.Your question tells me that you dont know SHIT about financial modeling.fuck off wannabes

The guy asked a simple question no reason to be a total douchebag about it. Also your calling him "wannabe" when your user name is Ari Gold? Hah funny

If that is true, then why is it that not always the smartest people make the most money. Also, why dont you tell us how much you make and your history. Also, tell us why you are going to succeed.

I'm happy I wrote on this site. You on the other hand, are scolding someone on a website. fun.

That being said, Does everyone think my post is pathetic?

nycgeorge,

I'm not an expert on hedge funds/PE firms, but from my limited experience I know that they do like to hire people that have worked at bulge bracket banks for two years. The entire reason they like to hire ex-analysts is that they have substantial modeling and finance experience/training. It doesn't sound like you have either of those things so it isn't likely that a hedge fund would hire you.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.
