Is college really nessacary?

I realize college nowadays is a must have, but I think college is a big rip off. I think this becouse for a top tier school it's over 50k that's just tuition ( I realize there are big scholarships also) I don't think it is smart starting off your life with possibly over 100k in debt. Especially in finance which is probably the most competitive major. I know someone who went to Wharton and someone who never went to college and the one who never went is very very well off. So what I'm trying to say do you think you need to go to college if you love finance, take it seriously, and work hard

See, there are lot a of people who make it big even without a college degree and college degree is not a requirement for a successful life. It is just that college equips you with two things: skills and network. If you can build both of these by yourself, you are good to go.

"I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature."
