Jefferies S&T Interviewing and Recruitment

I am a long time reader but a new subscriber to WSO. I have to say that this forum has been the most beneficial source of information that I have ever found when it comes to all things financial.

I currently work for a very small boutique consulting firm with the hopes of entering either a Hedge Fund or S&T. I am three years out of college, and I feel that during that time I have definitely narrowed down my passions and career path. I don't know how people are able to do it right out of college, I certainly wish I knew what I wanted to do but I was far from it. I graduated from a Pac-10 school with one of the top b-schools, and unarguably the best networking. with a little over a 3.4. Worked initially in business valuation and investment banking (8 months), real estate sales and analysis (2 years), and now consulting (7 months). Consulting is not a passion of mine and I know it's not what I want to do. I spend a lot of my day following the stock market and I'm always up to date with current events.

Anyways, I was trying to read up on S&T on this forum and specifically Jefferies, but there was not much to do with the interview process and hiring. The company still seems to be booming, so I imagine they do a lot of recruitment. It's not the largest of names, but certainly respectable. More than respectable on a lot of different levels for that matter. Does anyone have experience interviewing at Jefferies or currently working there in the S&T department that can provide some insight? Also do I even have a chance to jump into S&T if i didn't go down that path straight out of college? I would eventually like to transition to a Hedge Fund but given my current stage in life and personality, I think S&T would be perfect.

When does the fulltime recruitment typical take place?

There's a posting right now for a high yield sales & trading associate, but it has this job description:

"The ideal candidate is a resourceful self-starter with strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Some knowledge or experience in credit and/or leveraged financed markets preferred. A disciplined work ethic and the ability to multi-task and make quick decisions is a must. Applicants should have at least 2 years of prior work experience."

I'm not sure if thats meant to be read as 2 years of credit and/or leveraged financed markets. Or just, 2 years of work experience and it would be nice if some of that two years consisted of credit and/or leveraged financed markets. To me, associate usually means 2 years of experience in that exact field.

I think networking is probably my best bet. Time to start attending the sc alumni and cfa events.
