Jefferies Superday: Advice?
Hey guys,
Let me preface this by saying thank you to everyone on this forum. I would not have been able to get to where I am now without some of the advice I have picked up on the WSO forums.
Anyways, I just got asked to the Jefferies superday this Friday. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or has previously gone through the process. I've heard its not horribly technical but that's basically all I have heard. This is for SA.
Thanks.
Not sure about Jefferies, but the BB superdays I attended were usually 8-10 back-to-back 30 min interviews, from Analyst to VP maybe a MD.
Target or non target?
non target
Have you heard back yet?

Has anybody heard back yet from Jefferies IBD SA superday from last Thursday/Friday? Anyone know when were supposed to hear back?
Historically, Jefferies has made offers throughout the week following their Friday superday. I've noticed them doing this the past two recruiting seasons. However, I cannot confirm this is what they are doing this year.
I was in on Thur/Fri as well

.
Did anyone hear back??
Nope, not yet...
anybody hear back?
relax buddy!
Anyone hear yet?
Negative, haven't heard back. Worrying about it won't help. I'll update this status if I hear anything though.
Just heard back, no offer!

This is for everyone that interviewed at Jefferies Friday Dec. 5th and Saturday Dec. 6th....
Has anyone heard back about offers? I believe they told everyone people would hear back early next week (that is this week). I have not heard anything.
Love to hear if anyone has.

Not yet, most likely tomorrow or Wednesday. I doubt it would take until Thursday or Friday.
similar thread exists, and the consensus is that no result has been given out yet. Good luck everyone!
havent heard back too. waiting for it.
I didn't realize Jefferies had an accelerated process. I go to a core Jefferies school and resume drops don't even start until January.

Anyone heard anything? I find it strange that no one has heard anything so far.
Nothing... what's taking them so long. Normally dont people usually get offers on the same day?
I heard Wednesday guys.
Did the HR tell you that it would be Wednesday?
I have not heard Wednesday, just early this week. Who told you Wednesday?
I was told early next week too, and I over heard her saying Monday or Tuesday
I'm almost certain it will be Wednesday, if not LATER today, or unlikely, but still possible, Thursday. To my knowledge there was probably 40-50 kids who interviewed between Friday and Saturday, which is more than all the analysts they took last year. So give them time.
I asked the recruiter, and she said they had a 140 candidates coming in for about 55-65 spots
Those are some big numbers, considering I bet they have more superdays. Unless that is inclusive of all other expected superday spots. That would make more sense because I don't see how they interviewed 140 people in 2 days that's a little much.
I bet we hear back by tomorrow. Do you think it will be phone call or email?
I believe it would be by phone call.
As far as I know, they have a superday this Friday Dec.10th. too. I guess that they might make the final decision after that.
There were 6 hours on Friday.
Just receive a call with an offer! Goodluck guys!
Also got a call today, good luck everyone else.
Has anyone gotten a call who interviewed on Saturday? Or is it just Friday people...
did anyone opt into the ECM opportunities they emailed about?
did anyone opt into the ECM opportunities they emailed about?
Someone said on another thread that it was a call from the associate who interviewed that person. Looks like quite a few of us haven't heard back
Call from an Associate. I didn't interview with this associate though.
Yeah calls are still being made today apparently.
Do you know someone who got a call today(12/10) ?
What time are the calls coming in ?
Did you guys all interview at NYC office?
Yeah NYC office
I've not gotten a call, it's looking dire
Shit.... haven't heard anything either... I thought I did well..
I just got a call from HR that I have been waitlisted, and people with offers have to accept by Jan 5th
Which office did you interview?
I got an offer from Saturday super day but haven't heard officially from HR yet.
If anyone did a superday in Silicon Valley we are suppose to hear back early next week
The Silicon Valley has done their superday?

Has anyone heard back from the Jefferies superday this weekend?
Which office did you interview with and how did it go? I have one coming up on the 16th in NY
NY, it seemed to go well. The interviews were only 20 min each, which was nice. Only one round was technicals.
Glad to hear it. Have you heard back from them yet?
I'm on hold -- I just accepted a different offer thought. PM me if you want detailed info about the interviews.
I have one on the 16th as well, let me know when you guys hear back / how it goes for you guys

Jefferies Municipal Group Superday (Originally Posted: 08/04/2014)
Has anyone recently interviewed at Jefferies for their municipal group? I had superday last week and they called me back into office for an interview with their head of public finance banking and a couple of others. They told me to be prepared for a brief excel exercise.
Any idea of what the excel exercise might be?
probably knowing how to do the basic/advanced excel functions. Theres not much modeling in muni's theres a program everyone uses to do it
Thanks a lot. Yea, although I have not used it myself, I think they use DBC most often in Munis. Do you think they will test me on VBA (Excel Macro) skills as well?
dbc was the program i talked about, that is all that is used but no way to really learn it without having it. I highly doubt they would test vba skills, i would say vlookup, index/match, pivot table, all that crap
vlookup, index/match, pivot table, yield, price, trunc
They may have you build out a debt service table for bonds, given coupon and yield, and solve for issue price or something similar. I would familiarize yourself with how to model debt.
