Jefferies vs. Oppenheimer vs. Moelis
If choosing between offers at Jefferies, Oppenheimer, and Moelis, what would be the best option? Main considerations for me are: best learning experience, best exit opp's, and best pay potential. If you could also state why you think one is better than the other, that would be most helpful. Cheers!
If you have to ask, then the best option for you is Piper Jaffray.
Moelis is far better than the other 2 (not a close comparison at all).
Piper it is!
if the offer is for moelis ib then take that. and also do your own research.
.
How do the other two companies compare: Jefferies and Oppenheimer? I don't have the Moelis offer (yet, cross my fingers). I know someone was touting Opp's healthcare and tech teams the other day, but from what I can tell, the healthcare team at Jefferies is much better. Any thoughts?
for best placement into HF or PE, go Moelis...for specialized routes, look at particular groups at the other places...
I think Jefferies overall is better than Oppenheimer. But you should check out some middle market league tables and see for yourself.
Jefferies is one of the top MM banks out there. If you don't get the Moelis offer, Jefferies is the way to go
Like everyone said, Moelis is better but among the other two I would say it depends. I don't think Jefferies is that good imo but then again I never heard of Oppenheimer either.
Is that a reflection of their inadequacy or yours?
Jefferies for sure!!!!
moelis > jefferies .... oppenheimer is not even comparable. easy decision, in my book. congrats on offers!
Agree. Jefferies gives you far more exposure to the PE world. I know of Oppenheimer, but my guess is they will only be able to place you successfully on the local level. If you want to broad your exit ops geographically, Jefferies is a better way to go.
Is this Oppenheimer or OIAG? EIther way I would listen to the above but OIAG is an infrastructure advisory firm and may have interesting in roads to specialized PE in that area (there will be capital flowing there) - only problem there is its emerging markets and getting those deals financed can be damn near impossible right now - would scare me to go there, esp given your other options
Not that it matters - if you get the Moelis offer you take it - the only way you take JEF over it is if you want to do specialized PE in healthcare and you can get into the JEF Healthcare group - its a top group on the street period
If you do not get Moelis you take Jefferies without question - then try to politic into healthcare or Media (headed by John Fargis - former Bear star)
Congrats on the offers!
