Jill Stein files for a recount of votes

Source:Jill Stein files for a Recount

Jill Stein, who ran for president as the Green Party candidate, is seeking a recount of the votes in the battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, her campaign said on Wednesday.

Jill Stein is reportedly doing this because she feels like hackers might have skewed the votes somewhat, causing her to miss her polling estimates of 5%. However people on the sidelines are saying that 2 other outcomes are more likely to occur; Trump maintains a lead in these battleground states, reaffirming his lead OR Clinton actually wins the swing states after a revote. (Which will undoubtably cause a chaos)

What do you think about this? What is likely going to happen?

I think with the increasing occurrence of cyber-terror and hacking in the modern day, a recount is necessary. Even if something was found, I don't think this will change the fact that Donald Trump will be our next president. It would take a huge margin of error to alter the electoral college distribution enough and Hilary seems to have given up at this point and has accepted defeat.

Jill Stein is using this as a platform to increase her profile among liberals and to raise money--she knows this is a lost cause. There is no chance of this swinging the election. You'd have to flip all 3 states--WI, PA, MI--for Trump to lose in the electoral college. His margin of victory in each state is larger than the vote total that has ever in presidential history been shifted as a result of a recount, and it's not even close. You're usually talking 300 vote shifts (on the high side) as a result of a recount.

Our country has changed in so many ways for the worse. In 1960 there was actually credible evidence that the Kennedy campaign via the Illinois Democratic Party had stolen the election in Illinois. Being the patriot that Nixon was, Nixon refused to challenge the results because of the damage it could do to the country. This kind of patriotism is completely dead in 21st century America.

You remember those annoying try-hards from high school that got their daddies to sue the school when they weren't nominated for Prom Queen/King? Yeah, those are our politicians.

On another note, Gary Johnson actually was the classiest of the candidates (I said classy, not smart). After the election, he explicitly told his supporters that the election was never about him, it was about showing the people they don't have to vote for our two major parties. Whatever your opinions are on that, you have to respect that he was fully focused on something much greater than himself to make his community a better place. Hopefully with it all over, he'll be able to research Syrian geography.

Ah, the typical liberal tunnel vision "watergate" moral superior intellectual.

Jill Stein said that electing Hillary would push us into nuclear war with Russia during the election. Now she demands a recount. Hope these idiots enjoy pissing away their millions. Can't believe the Clintons would support such a thing when they're hoping for Trump's support to avoid prosecution for their crimes. Complacency.

Remember when we all thought Trump was going to be the world's asshole for questioning the results? Jill Stein, take it away.

Trump's campaign manager just made a thinly veiled threat that this action could change her boss's mind on pursuing a special prosecutor vs. Clinton. Plus trump's folks are going to appoint ambassadors to countries that may have been screwed by the Clinton Foundation and invite those countries to launch probes. Plus Trey Gowdy is just chomping at the bit to go after the Clintons. CSPAN may get Super Bowl ratings when the shit hits the fan.

This is about $ and publicity.

Her website even says that they can't guarantee that a recount will happen in these states and any extra money will go towards "election integrity efforts and promoting voting system reform". That's awfully vague, she will use the money to encourage voting in any manner she sees fit.

If Jill Stein wanted Hillary to win she wouldn't have: A - blasted her during the campaign B - RAN FOR PRESIDENT. She didn't get any conservative voters. She took votes away from Hillary.

I am not a Trump or Hillary fan, I just think it's sad that we've come to this in American politics. Before the election Trump and Conservatives thought they were going to lose and called the system rigged. Liberals FREAKED and Hillary said challenging the results of an election were a threat to our democracy (back when she thought she was going to win). Now that Hillary lost, she and Liberals can't come up with way to challenge the election fast enough.

Can we just start over?

I'm persuaded by this argument:

The recount is about further destabilizing the Trump presidency. If a recount causes the election certification to miss the deadline, then they both finish under 270 and the vote goes to Congress. Trump will obviously win in Congress, but it's just another way to make him look bad.

And Trump being Trump, he just can't leave it alone and called into question the legitimacy of his own win:

I can't believe this fucking moron is our next President. We really are circling the drain.

He is so thin-skinned it is unbelievable (can you imagine Obama sending out tweets every time some asshole called him a muslim that wasn't born here). Our president is sending out tweet-storms like an irate teenager. His "advisers" (I use the quotations because I highly doubt he listens) need to figure out a way for him to get off the platform entirely.

To be fair, we are really circling the drain when the citizens of this country embrace an attempt by the losing party to explicitly destabilize the legitimacy of our only nation-wide election through a dubious legal process. People have had enough of this nonsense and feel things are rigged against them (see Trump/Sanders). I cannot believe anyone is supporting a recount given how relatively large the margins are - reorganize and pick a better candidate and message next time.

Bingo. Or how about the thin margins in Minnesota (44K) or Nevada (26K). If she is being honest, she should want at the very least Nevada recounted.

But in reality, this is at best a play for money and at worst, a strategy to hold up electoral college voting in an effort to "delegitimize" the elected President.

BTW - the guy who won the elections by turning blue states red, ran against the media establishment, ran against his own party, the president, first lady, Jayz, the Koch brothers, Soros, Wall Street and every other big money backed.

Trump won and in resounding fashion. Hillary is at worst a criminal and at best a disgusting, colluding, party establishment candidate (something neither side wanted this election).

I've heard from my redneck family that this is probably where Hilary rigs the election, wins, cause huge chaos and problems and THEN Obama declares martial law and becomes our indefinite leader. SRS. They actually think this.

People who think a recount is needed on the basis of "hacking" do not understand how the voting process works let alone how electronic voting machines work. They are not network connected devices, therefore in order to tamper with the output of the device it would have to have the code of its operating system changed using a physical connection to the device. Therefore one would need tens of thousands of "hackers" to go and physically tamper with every machine in critical states, which seems incredibly unlikely and impossible to cover up. The easier way to do this would be at the point of manufacture. Which ironically enough seems far more likely considering that a significant percentage of the electronic voting machines are provided by a company that is controlled by billionaire financier and general douchebag George Soros.

This whole thing is a joke to raise money for the green party by a completely incompetent idiot by the name of Jill Stein.
