Jobs that require frequent traveling either abroad or in the country?
Hello,
What are some jobs that require frequent traveling? Jobs that require you to travel to Europe/Asia... or jobs that require you to travel to California, NY, etc.
I'm looking into jobs in the corporate finance / sales sector that requires traveling.
Are there any corporate finance positions that sometimes make you travel abroad while you work at their headquarters? How about in sales? Jobs like PWM / Private bank, do they require traveling as well?
Thanks in advance!
Ever heard of consulting...
I've heard pilots have to travel from time to time.
What about PWM/PB? Corporate finance positions?
How much do you have to travel for consulting? 50-75%?
At least. Grab a consulting job at MBB in Dallas and you'll spend >80% of your weeks traveling.
Word of caution: traveling isn't nearly as glamorous as it sounds in college. It usually involves: spending a decent portion of your week sitting in a coach seat on a major carrier, staying alone in a mid-tier hotel in a city you've never heard of and having no friends in the cities where you spend 5 days per week.

Consulting, IB (if you are a senior banker)...

corporate finance - for the most part - has minimal travel at the analyst/associate level.. think a max. of couple trips a year, most likely 0... travel, if any, would be to a company's major office in another location .. international trips are very rare..

Apart from consulting, which I already know travels a lot. How travel is there in say, a Big4 or corporate finance job? What about relocating overseas or to another US office?
Pilot.
Failing that, probably senior sales / analyst in a natural resources / energy industry position.
Corp fin, very little. BIg 4, really depends on the group. Audit tends to travel a lot. Tax not so much. TAS - likely, but not necessarily.
Thanks. I've been looking heavily into Big 4 stuff lately and have been wondering what travel is like. I'd like to work in an oil/gas group.
Before you jump on the big 4 bandwagon specifically for travel, keep in mind 9 times out of 10, your not traveling to some sexy location. Depending on your client, you may stay in the same city, or you may be going to middle of nowhere in some shitty factory. It all depends. Def not bashing big 4 audit (that's what I'm going into myself), but just didn't want you to be fooled by the "travel" pitch they give you during recruiting.
Oh I'm not too taken in by it, I figure many locations might suck and some might not even be in the same city. I'm just curious more than anything.
As peinvestor2012 said audit travels the most. Tax advisory depends on the city it is based in and TAS definitely more than Tax but less than Audit. That's what I was told by the Big 4 recruiters.
The only job in CF that travels any significant amount of the time is the internal audit group.
