JP Morgan, CDP Summer Analyst (Internship) Inquiry
Hello everybody. I recently received an offer from JP Morgan for the Corporate Development Program for this upcoming summer. In the "Opportunity" section of the program description it says that I will have the opportunity to spend time in one of the major business lines, such as Investment Banking. I realize that it is probably unlikely that I will be able to pull this off as it is an offer for Corp Fin, but I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how to possibly swing this?
However, it is more likely that I will end up in a corporate function such as: Corporate Planning and Analysis, Treasury, corporate finance Analysis, Investor Relations, Controllers, and Global Finance Operations. Can anyone give me a break down of what these areas do? Also, can anyone give me any incite as to which of these areas would be the most beneficial to pursue?
Thank you for your feedback!!!!

I have an interview next week for an internship in the Corp development analyst program with JP Morgan. There isn't much information out there on this program and it seems to be fairly new.
Does anybody have any insight into what kind of work one would do in this?
I'm posting in this forum because I'm ultimately interested in consulting or work like it and wanted to see how this would compare (I plan on doing the mgmt consulting internship recruiting process in January).
For reference I'm a junior in undergrad.
This is a back-office role, you rotate between various BO positions throughout the summer. Wouldn't set you up well for consulting. You can still do it and make it a great experience, but if you know you want consulting there are probably better stepping stones.
I would disagree on the point that it wouldn't set up you up well for consulting. While there may be better jobs for consulting, back office roles like at a BB in operations, management, and technology would be similar to the work you would do in many consulting jobs.
Think of it as "internal consulting". Actually, many times BB firms hire consultants to work with their back office professionals. Usually consultants exit out to these roles in a higher management capacity. You would just be trying to it the other way around.
Just make sure you figure out what part of the corp development program you like the best, then align that to a consulting role. For example technology delivery at JP Morgan can translate to technology delivery consulting at PwC.
If you have no other interviews, go for it. Better to have a name like JP Morgan on your resume than nothing.
The recruiting cycle at most other places is this winter (apps due in January) so I applied because it sounds interesting and also to get my feet wet. I saw it as something akin to internal consulting which sounds interesting and JPM is a great name for a resume. If it's similar enough to consulting and has good comp and exit ops I'd consider it, as consulting specifically isn't necessarily my be all end all. I just like the type of work consultants do and what it sets you up for so if this offers similar things in those categories, it'd be worth pursuing in my mind.

Hey does anyone know anything about this program and what it entails. Also, is there an opportunity to move after?
Thanks
PM me your location, LOB, and application status. Ill give u some insight
Depending on what part of the CDP you're talking about, I can help you out.
Went through this program last summer. Its made up of 3 programs IT, Ops and business services, and FADP (Finance Analyst Development Program) I myself was part of the FADP program, which is rotational program to give you the experience you need to run the "behind the scene" functions of the bank. Its a great program but you are looking for FO, it's kind of difficult to get out of this program when in it FT, and as an intern.
