JPM IBD SA first round? (Originally Posted: 01/24/2013)
just wonder if any monkeys have heard back from JPM IBD in NYC yet...any news from your contacts or OCR leads? im at a non-target and was wondering what everyone else is like.
It is my understanding that decisions about a superday are still being made. I networked with a group who passed me on to HR and haven't heard back yet. Also nontarget

Depends, usually a combination of technicals and fit. Technicals would be your standard 3 methods of valuations, recent transactions that have happened. Focus on why JPM and why IBD. When you get into latter rounds the technicals become much more indepth---leveraging and un-leveraging beta, how three statements are affected three years after purchase of asset, ect. Focus on getting your story down--have a friend sit in front of you and ask interview questions such as why JP and tell me about yourself. Trust me, you may think you have the answers in your head, but when you go to answer them your words will slur and you will lose your train of thought...practice with a friend.
Good Luck.

JPM has a very unique recruiting process where that they do a lot of on campus interviews, but they also do lots of group specific interviews at any time, so that a person can have a SA offer interviewing in October or March.

If my school's (Top 5 school) resume drop isn't until Jan 10 or so, should I apply now and try to get interviewed early? Is there any advantage to this?
I was under the assumption that after Jan 10, they'd compile the resume books, and then pick the people for first rounds. I say this because we're only allowed to register online for on campus interview slots post Jan 15th.

Any clarification would be much appreciated!
If your school has a resume drop, you should be alright. This is mostly for people who have a contact with the bank and that mostly applies to non-target students.

I haven't heard back either and the interview went very well...so we'll see. I guess it's still very early. What group did you speak with? PM me if you'd like to share, i'll let you know as well :)

Top links please. I find a lot of stuff, don't know where to focus in the week I have left to prepare.
Search the site to find stuff on that topic.Concentrate on the technical "stuff" that you are weak at and skip over the "stuff" you already know.
Make sure you can answer the behavioral part - why banking, etc.
Come in and relax that day. Act normal and you should be OK. Good Luck.
would you like someone from here to go and interview for you as well?

Hey, has anyone interviewed with JPM IBD this year for SA positions? If so, how were the interviews like?
interested
also, nontarget or target?
Semi-target. Did OCR for JP IBD at my school
all fit. Why IBD? Your last work experience and a time when you worked on a team.

Superday is tomorrow for non-targets
We had some discussion about that over on another post: //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/jpm-non-target-superday
What's your source on that? I have been told by HR and bankers that wasn't the case

Congrats. Is this for rising junior summer or rising senior?
Nice job
Junior.... thanks guys
Congrats. Solid Bank.
Have you heard back yet? Just wondering because I did as well.
How are you guys hearing back already? Our school resume drop deadline isn't until Jan 9...I'm assuming most people hear back after this?
Is this for NYC?
Yes
No have not heard back yet. Probably a bad sign
