J.P. Morgan Internship - Success Story

I just got an official offer for a summer internship with J.P. Morgan Securities. When I first started looking for a internship in November I never thought I would get anything other than an unpaid at a boutique.

Background: I am a sophomore at a non-target with a 3.3 GPA, I interned at a small wealth management firm last summer. I want to do investment banking like the majority of you, so I started cold calling an emailing in November. I emailed hundreds of people and only had a couple interviews that didn't lead to offers.

My old boss got me in touch with his friend who works for J.P. Morgan PB, and after talking to her, she forwarded my resume to the recruiter. I didn't expect to get an interview so I kept looking. An alumni offered me an internship at his private equity firm if nothing fell though. Knowing I had a fall back, I could breathe easier. I got the first interview in March, and found out I moved on to the second over spring break. I did a lot of preparation for the second one and it went great. Much to my surprise, I got an offer, and at the office I wanted.

Hard work does pay off, don't get discouraged. Take all the rejections and build from them.
