Is it possible to work for JPMPB out of undergrad.. go to grad school.. then lateral to work as an analyst for a JPM fund? Like one of their mutual funds?
There is virtually no on-campus recruiting from asset management firms (PIMCO is the exception), so you are on your own. Is it possible? Perhaps, but AM is pretty tough to break into. I was talking to a guy who is pretty high up at JP Morganequity research, and even he was unable to break into their AM division.
I would say yes...I know of a few people who did this. I would say it is possible without even going to grad school (as JPM has a decent policy of internal mobility as a lot of people I knew in JP PB eventually went to work in other parts of the firm). I would also say that JP investment management recruits (not as much as the IB side) at grad schools but most likely with a limited amount of opportunities. Getting a CFA would greatly help in trying to make the switch especially if you were able to get your CFA while at the PB and make the internal move.
I'm pretty sure JP investment management does not do formal on-campus recruiting at any grad school. Heck, I have not even seen them post a job on my school's job board, and I'm at an M7 mba program.
My school had a general JPM AM resume drop, but I ended up going through the US equities process and getting the offer. However I think I was in the minority among the people in my superday...

Depends what you're trying to do... Investor to product strategist or asset allocation strategist would be easier than Banker to buy side ER analyst
