Jump to another desk or bank as a BB sales and trading analyst

So I am starting this fall in a BB fixed income strategy desk. I am in the sales and trading graudate program, however the desk is not what I want at all. I want to do trading not strategy. In my bank traders don't listen to strategists at all so we exist only for publication reasons. How can I jump to another desk or another bank? headhunters, resources, suggestions, any info would be highly appreciated. Thanks to all!

How common is it to switch desks at a junior level? Say you wanted to go from spot fx to forwards?
Within the same product its not terribly difficult as long as they like you and have space. Between products its not as common unless you are at the junior level, even then not very common. I know people who've done it though.

With in the same group, like spot to forwards, it would be easy. Between different groups, like commods and credit. not so much.

I have also seen options traders switch products. I know a guy who left swaptions back in '05-'06 when the vols were completely dead and "never coming back" and he became an FX options trader. He had to switch banks and move to one that was trying to expand into FX options business.....at the end of the day, need is your biggest obstacle.

I think its a little bit easier in options because you are trading vol, so its more similar for someone to jump from oil options to fx options than it is for someone to move from oil trading to fx trading.
