Kodi: A Free Upgrade to Netflix
Kodi is a media platform you can use on your smartphone, TV, or computer to stream pretty much any movie/tv show your heart desires. Below is a brief guide to installing this beauty.
First things first,
. Both the video and my guide are done with Windows but the process for other devices should be the same. Getting Kodi set up takes 5-10 minutes, let's get into it
(commas separate the steps):
- Download the corresponding version of Kodi here
- Kodi setup wizard: click next, make sure the type of install is full (this is under the "choose components" page), next, install
- Open Kodi, hover over the system tab, click file manager, click add source on the left side, type "http://fusion.tvaddons.ag" into the "none" entry, type ".fusion" into the bottom entry for a name, click ok, go back to the home menu
- hover over the system tab, click settings, click the Add-ons tab, click Install from zip file, click .fusion, click start-here, click the one that says something like "plugin.video.hubwizard-1.2.0.zip", go back to the home menu
- click the programs tab, click config wizard, click your corresponding platform, click yes
Kodi is now ready! I stick with Exodus which can be found under the Videos tab, it has pretty much every TV show/movie. TV shows upload a couple of hours after airtime, movies are more varied but you can expect to see a movie on Exodus within a month I'd say.
Kodi is safe and legal (as far as I know, I've never seen anything to suggest otherwise) as long as you use the programs that come installed when you follow this guide. It's a bit of a gray area but since you're only streaming you can't and won't get in trouble as long as you stick with the package installed in this guide.
If you have any questions/issues, let me know and I should be able to help.
This is great. One thing I'd add is that it's been experience that it's better to use Kodi on your computer than tv. Firesticks are fairly mediocre and you need 20-30 mbps wifi at minimum to get decent streaming out of it. What do you think is the best "jailbroken" streaming device? I'd say Apple TV.
Damn, I didn't now it took so much download speed to get streaming on TV.
As far as the best jailbroken streaming device, do you mean device with Kodi installed? I've heard several people who use Kodi on their Apple TVs without issue, so I'd say it's a solid device if that's what you mean.
Yeah I think the apple tv is the best. You CAN stream with a 10 mbps or less speed but it will buffer a lot, especially if you have more than one device using the wifi.
Gotcha.
Just ran a speed test because you made me curious. Got 95 mbps down on school's wifi, no wonder my Kodi runs flawlessly. Bless U.S. schools and their heavenly wifi.
Are you able to buy these boxes with everything already installed? I tried setting one up for a relative and had a hell of a tough time. But I could be a dumbass
