LaidLaw and Company
Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know anything about this boutique firm?? What is there reputation like?? What is their work culture like?? Any information as to where to inquire or search, as well as what you have heard would be great. I do no know anyone who has worked there, nor in this industry at all. Thank you all for your input.
Best Regards,
Artifact00
Well if I answer my own post do I earn more bananas......LOL!!! If anyone outthere can give me insight to my first post once again I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I think there was a string about Laidlaw a couple of months ago. Might be best to search the forums.
Thanks for the reply.
I have searched the forums and they are on the boutique investment MM list for NYC. Also someone else asked a question regarding this firm in March. The repsonse to that gentlemans question was "Kudlow and Comapny" as a joke but nothing else.
I have viewed their website and it looks okay.
I also found as Cease and Desist order for them on the Connecticut Dept of Banking website that was recent I believe May 07 with some excessive fines. Also find that they formerly did business under the name Sands Brothers. I will keep searching....as my interview with them is this Monday. Once again I do thank you for the reply. Have a great weekend if you here anything else or no anyone who could help me please let them know about my post. Thanks.
The only "Laidlaw" I know is the bus operator that owned Greyhound until being taken over by FirstGroup of the UK...
They are on the Capital IQ list.
The website for them is laidlawltd.com (Please view)
Let me know what you think. Thanks I really appreciate it.

Good Afternoon,
Anyone your insight would be great if you know about Laidlaw and Company on Park Avenue in NYC. Any information regarding them would be great. Also if anyone has any Vault Logins and Passwords that are valid that would be great because I believe there are six posts but a membership is required. Thanks.
Best regards, Artifact00
This is an online forum, you don't need to write a cover letter to fellow posters. Second off, isn't a Vault Membership like 5 bucks for a year? Just drop the money if you wanna know, at this point, it doesn't seem that anyone really knows much about it, and seeing as you can't find much info, I don't think we'd be able to either.
Furthermore, just go to their damn website. They have a giant list of recent transactions and plenty of info about the firm.

I don't see what more you need to know.
I did review their website. Vault is dirt cheap for the year, so you are right for busting my chops on that.
You are right I do not need to know more......No cover letter here either. Thanks for busting my chops I welcome and embrace the comments.

that place is a chop shop.
You are completely right in saying that. I did not get the vibe or presence I was looking for at all. WOW!! You hit it right on the money.
How did you know that?
I know someone who was duped into interning there. Supposedly it's a joke.
I interviewed there once......I never looked back after I step foot out of the door. Joke only begins to describe it........LOL!!!
Thanks again for the heads up.
My classmate had a really bad experience there. He worked and left after a short period of time. Now he is at another bank generating multi million revenue per year. The company still has lots of politics going on and is in a real mass in terms of the leadership. Good talents were not and are still not appreciated. Extremely high turnover ratio across every single business segment. People joined and often quickly left for a better place cauze they do not see the hope. In many cases, it is the good people who are forced to leave and people still hanging there are paid poorly, weigh below the industry standard. It is hard to image that this company will grow to anywhere in any future under the current leadership.
I can tell you from a (former) client perspective...they are awful. They are very unprofessional. My personal investment experience includes a deal that turned out to be fraudulent and they take no responsibility for their lack of due diligence before selling it to me. And now they don't return simple calls asking for a status update...they don't care about anything but taking people's money.

I would not go to work for Laidlaw- the CEO Matt Eisner is scum, and so is the Man. Partner, James Ahern. They treat their employees and even their partners like dirt.
Good to know. Any supporting evidence?
bitter employee, lol?

Does anyone have any info regarding interning/working at this firm? I believe it's been around a while, reputation? Thanks
Not sure how they're doing today, but about a year and a half ago they were having financial issues where they were cutting staff and put on a hiring freeze. I've got a good friend who really got screwed by them
They're really hitting the phones just now - four or five guys in my shipbrokerage been hit up by these boiler roomers

prima facie, looks too much like kudlow and company.
From the ghetto...
I'm not really familiar. Isn't that a television show?
Laidlaw is a Canadian company that collects trash in residential neighborhoods.
Not quite IBanking....but close depending on how you think of it.

whoever can help would be of great service to me right now!! i am scheduled to inteview with Laidlaw in NYC and i was wondering if any former interns can tell me what their salary was? i was offered other internships with good pay, but Laidlaw is in the field that i have yet to explore. so i want to gain experience at an investment bank too.
if any former interns could help me out that would be great. people on wallstreetoasis don't seem too fond of this investment bank, so i'm starting to think i might be wasting my time
brokerage or the Ibank arm?
Brokerage: Pure cold calling. Most of the people you'll be calling don't speak English. Do you know who you will be interviewing with?
Can you pm me as well? i have an interview here also

Hey guys,
So as my junior year winds down to a close, my decision for internships needs to be finalized.
I have been offered a part-time, non-paid Intern position at a small PWM firm and was flat out told I will be doing a good amount of cold calling. Although its not the most interesting work, the firm will sponsor interns for the Series 7 exam. Today I was call by a Laidlaw & Co. who asked me to come in for an interview after receiving my resume. After searching through forums, they don't seem to have the greatest track record. However, the internship is paid, and as of now, I have no financial experience. Which one should I go for?
Any advise would be awesome.
Do you know who you will be interviewing with?
Im not exactly sure yet. Do you have any informatin about the about the company, or their internship program?
Sent PM.
