Law Internship
So... here's my dilemma. I am a sophomore, and I have absolutely no job experience. I want to get an internship next summer. However, I have the opportunity to possibly intern at a local law firm during the year. (I am also slightly interested in going into law if investment banking doesn't work out.) Would this be something that would look good on a resume for a banking job or would it lead them to believe I was leaning more towards law and just submitting banking resumes as an afterthought.
Thanks!

Well if you’re interested
Well if you’re interested in law then you should definitely try it out first hand to get a taste if it is something you like to pursue. As for your original question professional work experience is work experience so it can't hurt.
The internship could be
The internship could be quite useful if it is focused on the corporate transactional or securities regulation side - it would provide you with at least some perspective on the deal process and/or general finance. If, however, it is at a criminal law/personal injury/family law/insurance shop (99% of "local" law firms) it would likely be a waste of your time - it would not help you in banking and, assuming you have good academic qualifications and could get into a top law school, would not give you a good idea of what it is like to practice law, i.e. working for large corporations in a large law firm environment.
I've done law internship,
I've done law internships in corp law. I dont know how much it helped, but i later did internships in corporate banking, corp fin (boutique) and advisory (big4) If you cant get anything else then go for it, atleast you get something to put on your cv.
