Lazard's Capital Markets Advisory
First post on here!
I have been trying very hard to find out more about Lazard's Capital Markets Advisory group, but so far I only know it is relatively new. It would be much appreciated if someone could shed some light on the nature of this group and the culture. Thank you!
Separated into 3 coverage areas:
ECM DCM Capital Structure Optimization (Balance Sheet/WACC/etc.)
You only specialize in one area obviously but are expected to be experts working with the other 2 groups.
Exit Opps: HF but lots stay on after B-School in the Capital Markets function.
Hours are slightly better than M&A bankers.
Thank you, Aston! I was wondering how exactly do Lazard's ECM and DCM advisory function given they don't underwrite (except through Lazard Capital Markets).
bump
Any other thoughts on this group? How common are groups like this? I don't see a ton of comparable groups to this out there, but that may just be a naming convention issue. That is, I suppose other investment banks have roles like this, but they may not sit in a formal group.

They may not be separated out, but many BBs and EBs do this. Boss came from a top M&A group and they would do lots of this work.
The purpose? You are first in line when it comes sell side, buy side or financing/refinancing work. I'm not sure if it is still the case, but some of the work was done pro bono while some was a "consulting" arrangement.
Can anyone share an update regarding Lazard cap markets (eg culture, deal flow, etc)? What is the interview process like? Thx!
Anyone?

Hi Dan Bush, nice to see you back. Hate to derail your thread, but I actually have a question for you: Did you create your current screenname because you fantasize about being a big, husky lacrosse player named David? Do you find yourself sitting around on lonely nights wishing you could pledge with the lacrosse fraternity so that you can spend your time engaging in homoerotic activities with a bunch of sweaty "jakked" (as you like to say) student athletes?
See you at the gym dude. Don't give up on that dream. One day you're gonna be so ripped and good looking that you can just waltz into any Wall Street job despite your low IQ and GPA.
What?
Oh, sorry if it didn't go through. Let me paste it again, let me know if it's still not showing up:

Excuse me, but who the hell do you think you are? Actually, don't answer that, for I think I may be able to offer a few possibilities. 1. Maybe you're a failed lacrosse player and every time you see or hear "lax" you have some sort of chemical reaction in your brain that makes you convulse in the form of ridiculous message board posts. 2. Maybe you get a hard on every time a "sweaty" or "jakked" (improperly spelled by you, "MD") lacrosse player walks by. 3. Maybe you sucked off Dan and he never returned the favor. -or finally, you are what you type, as it were. So maybe it is indeed a lonely night and YOU are the one fantasizing about this David, "big, husky lacrosse player." Anyhow, Mark Klein, "MD" please take your bullshit of a life elsewhere and stop posting useless, senseless, and general shit on my forum.
whats wrong w/ Dan Bush?
HAHA Okay Dan Bush. As for your 3 completely illogical points:
"convulse in the form of ridiculous message board posts" - What does that mean exactly? Convulsing is trembling or shaking; like tremors. Trust me on this one...I'm a doctor.
What makes you think I get a hard-on from that? You're the one who changed your screenname to "big dave LAX." Not me.
Do you normally refer to yourself in the 3rd person? Let me remind you: You ARE dan bush. And no, I didn't "suck you off." This is the internet, so that would be impossible.
See you at the gym man. We're gonna take wall street by storm when we get totally jacked!
HAha, classic dan bush:
Referring to a thread as a "post." NOBODY else does that, but Dan Bush has done it so many freaking times.
A "your mom" joke.
???
It's Mark Klein's old username.
nope. even you know this:
"by nystateofmind (Baboon, 151 Points) on 11/13/07 at 8:04pm Nah it used to be Dan Bush is XXX"
referring to you amigo.
Anywho, can the moderator please clear this convo so Jimbo can respond tomorrow?
If you are Dan Bush and you keep filling the forums with crap I can now ban IP addresses with the new upgrade. so please try to keep it civil boys - the leash is much shorter this time around.
...and delegate more moderators.
for those that do not know, Dan Bush is the epitomy of trolling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
?????
OMG, I don't know what is going on here. All I want is for Jimbo to answer my question. I didn't incite any of this. I just posted my question as anybody would do and before I knew it some crazy started accusing me of being some guy I don't even know. Please just clear this so Jimbo can answer tomorrow!
Dan Bush/BigDave: You are the one using cuss words, not me. You are an absolute nut case and you need to lay off the 'roids. I also think you may be in denial and should see a therapist if you think that choosing a fake name like "big dave LAX" is something any straight person would do. Seriously, get a life and stop acting like you "don't know" who dan bush is.
EDIT: hilarious. "bigdavelax" just edited his profile. It used to say "yalie" under the School tab, and now it says Columbia. What a paranoid freak, trying so hard to cover up his identity on an already-anonymous messageboard.
By the way, congratulations Dan. This thread was a killer success. Way to keep it cool when you're the one asking people for advice.
this is why people leave this forum..... there are a few people giving good advice here. try and give them a reason to stay ok? if you want to have a flame off, do it somewhere else please.
on the trading side, never see them. good at banking though.

Summer analyst position. What do you guys know about this group? Seems like it's just ECM/DCM work. Is Lazard good in this? What type of work will you be doing? Would it be easy to lateral into their M&A group from here? Or would it be better to take a lower-tier bulge bracket traditional IBD summer analyst position?
