TechBanking:

Don't do it. Why play with fire for the satisfaction of your "network"?

Thanks

Like TechBanking said, don't update your LinkedIn, there's nothing to gain and it's all downside risk. I may be wrong but it kind of sounds like a bad idea to be interning at a competitor to your full time gig that you've already accepted. I'd be somewhat careful letting anyone at the summer gig know that you're working at a competitor come fall.
What you should do is email anyone who helped you getting both positions updating them and thanking them for their help.

Yes - I hear (and agree) with what you are saying. Thanks for the advice regarding emails - will do that.

Black Jack:

I'm guessing you're hoping the summer offer turns into some sort of immediate start FT offer (you would be stupid to not be hoping that)? In any case I would absolutely not add it to your Linkedin. Literally tiny if any upside; not worth it.

I am hoping to have that option. They made it relatively clear that I they aren't looking to do immediate starts - so a return offer would be to start the following summer (2016). If I get the return offer then it will open up a whole new problem of whether to drop the MM for the EB. I don't know how I could do that successfully without burning bridges. Any thoughts on that?

If you keep your mouth shut, you could be fine. Tell no one at either firm about the internship or full time offer. I don't care if you have buddies that are analysts or whatever...you tell someone, you are screwed.

If you get a return offer at the EB, then work at the boutique for a year and give them notice a month or so before your start date. It will just look like you've traded up and not that you've had something like what you've done planned. What I've laid out is the best way to not burn bridges, but this whole scheme is highly questionable.

There's not any subtle way to ditch an offer you've already accepted. You're going to burn bridges in that scenario, it's inevitable. Up to you to judge whether upside risk is worth it (buy side recruiting, brand name, etc.). Also you are risking getting stuck in 'no man's land' where the EB finds out you have reneged on an offer, and then you get no job. Obviously, updating your LinkedIn would be about the dumbest thing you could do.
