London Recruiting: Is Greenwich Partners good?

edit: Another headhunter I used to be in contact with was http://www.berkeleyfrost.com/ , but now when I look them up on linkedin it doesnt seem like they have any employees any more? Anyone know if these guys are still active? Just want to make sure I'm not missing any opportunities out there , thx

There is a headhunters in London called Greenwich Partners and they always have good roles posted on their site for banking & PE, however I have tried to contact them numerous times to discuss roles and no'one ever been available to speak. Moreover, looking on Linkedin they don't seem to have any employees other than this James Heath guy.

Does anyone have any experience working with these guy(s) and can vouch for them, or should I just continue to assume this company is just some peculiar scam or something?

I've never had a good experience with them. I get the impression they're lazy (ie, if you're not an easy sell they won't talk.

Thanks very much

You know you've been working too hard when you stop dreaming about bottles of champagne and hordes of naked women, and start dreaming about conditional formatting and circular references.

I still maintain WSO should have headhunter reviews - it's such a one-sided service.

I love when people throw out words like "scam" and "fraud" completely illogically.

Yes, they're clearly so intent on scamming suckers like you that they ignore all your emails.

I love when people act like tough guys on the internet.

I only used "scam" and "fraud" because I knew it would get the thread views hombre.

I'm not trying to be a tough guy. I'm simply pointing out you're being an idiot (at best) and libelous (at worst).

It is obvious he is a fraud 1- I am sure no one on the forum ever met the guy.Which is strange because even the most selective firms meet/have a call at least once with new candidates in order to establish a relationship at the beginning, even if they do not have a suitable role for you 2- How can only one guy post more (and better mandates) than all the biggest/best recruiting firms. It seems he has 50 new mandates every week which is quite surprising...

I don't think they are very great at all.

They spam out the same opportunities to everyone who's CVs they seemingly picked up off efinancial careers, and never then follow through with what they promise.

As far as I am aware, they do not have exclusive mandates with their clients for placements.

I received one interesting opportunity, but given I was moving elsewhere with my notice already handed in, I passed it onto a former colleague who had a great profile (worked on some huge deals, every single item was impressive, target schools, numerous languages etc.) and he did not ever get in touch with them. Very bizarre. Would be interested to know if anyone has any success stories with them?

Not sure if London is generally better headhunter-wise but in the US (or at least in New York) ignoring your e-mails if you do not have a very solid profile tends to be quite common. You might get a response if you are applying for a role which is not popular among candidates.

Similar experiences to the above with Greenwhich. They always seem to have great roles but have never actually managed to speak to anybody there. I would regularly get random emails that were obviously a mail shot with opportunities...some were interesting but never heard a thing back.

Other funny thing about them is every role they offer be it HF, PE, IB or ER seems to be looking for ACA's...makes me think they have no exclusivity and its just a CV harvesting scam.

Thought it was just me but interesting to hear others views...anybody ever got an interview out of them?

Classic James Heath today, every now and then i'll punt in an application on efin knowing they rarely amount to anything. So i punted on a distressed role, James emails me back with an IG role at a bank.....he just gives no shits.

Horrible horrible man. Have tried contacting him numerous times and applied for numerous roles and never responds to anything.

Finally heard back from him for one role when he emailed and texted to ask me for my availability. When i told him i'd found something else he asked what so I told him... persisted to send me emails and texts telling me i'm making a mistake, the company is bad, i'll want to leave and i'll ruin my career by going there - just so i'd go to his stupid interview.

DON'T DEAL WITH THIS GUY!

Clearly the consensus view is pretty negative, but just to put my own two cents out there: I actually had a fairly positive experience with Greenwich partners. Met James in person, and he seemed fairly switched-on. Set me up with interviews at three firms, including the one that led to my current job.

He does have an assistant who deals with admin of interviews, but for the most part he's a lone wolf and a pretty busy guy...which may explain the non-responsiveness to an extent.
