Looking for a Career
Hey monkeys, sorry if this is in the wrong section, but things have been changed a bit since the last time I've visited and I know this is the most popular section so I'm hoping to find some answers without having too much shit thrown at me! My question is what are some other lucrative positions in finance? I've pretty much ruled out investment banking since I went to a no name school and didn't perform incredibly well in college. What I'm looking for is something where the barriers of entry aren't too high, yet I can make a solid living doing (say 250k or so over time). I'm an extrovert and don't particularly want to sell my soul working 80+ hours every week. I know I could handle 60 hours/wk 12 hour days Monday-Friday, since I've done it before. I'd like something where I get to travel a bit, but not always on the road. Something where I could use my people skills, yet not be a straight salesman working a job that people can get without a degree. I know this question has been asked before, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding what I'm looking for. Could positions in corporate finance be my solution? I'm not adverse to getting however many designations I need and my math skills are fairly strong. I really like investments and have considered portfolio management although that can be a long and hard path. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time!
