Kind of a broad question but I'll try and answer.
First, based on your other thread it looks like you're trying to go into real estate. The city is and has been expanding very rapidly, so that is a great industry to be in. Try your luck with CBRE, Marcus and Millichap, and Cushman and Wakefield.
In terms of living: I live in Lodo (lower-downtown, heart of the city) and it's about as expensive as this city gets. Will be hard to find a place, even with a roommate, for less than $1,100/month not including utilities. Like most places, the farther out you move, the cheaper rent becomes. Wash Park is an extremely popular area for young people and is located 10-15 minutes outside the city, depending on traffic. There, you'll find rent anywhere from $700-$1000 month, depending on quality of house and whether you have a roommate. It's an awesome summertime area: giant parks filled with girls in sundresses, slosh ball, intramural sports leagues, etc... Plenty of good bars and pubs nearby as well.
All really depends on your budget. The Highlands is a great spot too, as its very modern and has some of the best restaurants in town. Will be on the pricier side though.
Other places to look into living (assuming you'll be working in the city) are City Park, Cheeseman Park (notoriously gay area, but you'll be fine if you can survive Europe), the Five Points, which used to be a very bad area, but is now more of a hipster scene. The hipsters suck but it's better than the crips and bloods.
The Super Bowl parade will be fun next year, as well. Make sure you're here for that.
Other than that, it's an average sized city with a big city feel. There's something for everyone, including the mountains an hour or less away or a quiet foothills neighborhood. Plenty of awesome bars in town, along with the best microbreweries in the entire country between here and Boulder. Stranahan's whiskey, New Belgium and Avery Brewing Co's....I digress, but am happy to give you specifics.
Genius.
Denver... The sunshine state... Gorgeous!
I'm not sure I understand what you mean?
Denver is amazing! Wish I never would of left.
Denver has the most days of sunshine per year of all the major cities. Sunshine city baby. Also, bars, we like bars. We're really big on microbreweries, too, so if you like beer... Some sources for places in Denver to eat/drink/whatever are 5280 magazine and the Westword. I will miss a lot of things since I'm just doing this off the top of my head.
CaR gave a great breakdown, I'll add my thoughts:
Living areas
Map of the different downtown areas: http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/mapLargeBoundary2.php
LoDo: Bar/party scene. Denver has (had?) the most bars per capita of any major city in the US. LoDo is great if you're young and have a decent bit of change to spend. Most bars have great deals at some point, you just have to look around for the timing on 'em (Pour House and the Giggling Grizzly are generally cheaper). Keep in mind you don't have to live in LoDo to take advantage of it. Other bars that most people like to check out: LoDo's, the Tavern downtown, Cowboy Lounge (country music), 1Up (retro video games bar), Falling Rock Tap House, Wazee Supper Club, El Chapultapec (sp? - jazz/blues bar) and Sports Column (cheaper option usually) and Jackson's Sports Bar are a couple decent sports places.
Central Platte Valley: Between LoDo and the Highlands. I had friends who lived at the Station and the Manhattan. Both of those places are (relatively) expensive, but cheaper than LoDo. I think a 2 bedroom at the Station went for 1500 around 3 years ago and a one bedroom at the Manhattan went for 950 around 6 years ago. Both are decent places. My Brother's Bar is a great place for food/drinks. Lola was great for cougars a couple years back, not sure about now. Also, this is where Riverfront Park is, decent female presence in the spring/summer
Retail: This area is going to be very expensive, right on 16th Street Mall (a pedestrian/free Mall Ride only area). 16th Street Mall runs about 15 blocks and is the center of the downtown area. I have a friend who lives at 1600 Glenarm, those apartments go for about 1100 for a studio. Marlowe's is solid, right across from 1600 Glenarm. They are almost always on their Happy Hour schedule. Some people love Earl's, but I hate it, you're paying to look at cute girls in little black dresses. Pointless. Rock Bottom is right on 16th as well, great place, a little expensive, relatively. Paramount Cafe has a pretty baller happy hour thing, check it out. Red Square in Larimer Square is pretty awesome, vodka and more vodka, and thus vagina. Illegal Pete's serves food til 3am on Fri and Sat (maybe Thurs, too?), but remember, it's going to be fucking packed.
Auraria: More of a student area. This is where CU Denver is at. Meh
Financial: Don't know much about it, honestly.
Civic Center: convention center area. La Boheme (strip club) is around here, not sure where exactly, could be in Silver Triangle.
Arapahoe Triangle and north of: I rarely venture up that far, though they've got some decent bars. This is getting into the more "changing" area. Lots of shitty areas, lots of great hole-in-the-wall type places. I can't remember any of them because I've never been there sober. Ha. Oh, the Meadowlark.
Silver Triangle: A little cheaper than LoDo/Retail, but still kinda expensive. 14th and 15th streets towards LoDo have lots of bars/restaurants. Front Porch (bar) isn't bad. I like Corner Office, too.
Uptown: I love both Steuben's and Park & Co. The Tavern uptown isn't bad, honestly I haven't been to a bad Tavern location, it's just a decent Denver chain of bars with decent food. Caveau Wine Bar if you like wine bars.
Golden Triangle: Don't know much, sorry.
Capitol Hill: East of Broadway pretty much, I dunno the definition of its exact geographical location. Cheaper housing here, you get what you pay for, highly variable quality depending on the place. Three Lions is cool if you like soccer. Park Tavern and Streets of London are the decent ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Wash Park: Its cool because, well, Wash Park is right there. Girls around all the time, very social spot during spring/summer. I never really went out in this area because whenever I was there I was at the park. Can't think of any bars/restaurants off the top of my head.
DU area: Near the University of Denver, a ways south of downtown. The Stadium is a favorite of mine, it's your standard dive bar, but it's usually full of DU kids. $2 Jim Beam/and coke all day every day. Crimson and Gold (named for DU's colors) is alright, so is Jordan's (though a bit more expensive, especially for being in the DU area). Pete's University Cafe is solid for hangover breakfast.
Cherry Creek: You're probably not going to be living here or want to live here. It's for successful professionals, housing is expensive. You may want to troll for cougars here if that's your thing, just be good looking and dress sharp. Make sure you check out the Cherry Cricket at some point, though.
Other things
Outdoors: Denver is big on outdoor activities, as CaR mentioned, both summer and winter. Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, rock climbing... pretty much if you want to do it outside and it doesn't involve an ocean, you can.
Ski resorts: normal travel (ie- no snowstorm/not rush hour): Vail is 1hr45m, Copper is 1hr30m, Winter Park is 1hr20m. Winter Park is the cheapest, but Copper has this deal where if you or a friend sign up for a Wells Fargo checking account, you can get a 2 for 1 season pass. If you plan on going to the mountains 9 or more times, the season pass will pay for itself. Otherwise, get the four-pack
I'm tired of writing, might add some more later. Hope this helps.
From another post I made on restaurants a while back:
I'm not really aware of any "famous" foods from Denver (Rocky Mountain Oysters, maybe? Also, microbreweries, but that doesn't count as food). We have a lot of great foods from, well, everywhere. Here's my short list of places, in no particular order, that you have to try and eat at, all of which I've been to:
Burgers: -Park Burger* -H Burger -Juicy Burgers and Dogs -Highland Tap and Burger
Philly cheesesteaks: -Taste of Philly
Pizza: -Pudge Brothers (chain) -Papou's -Pizzeria Locale -Anthony's
Breakfast: -Jelly -Gaia Bistro -Snooze* -Breakfast King (24 hours)
"American": -My Brother's Bar* -Table 6 -Fruition -Mizuna -Vesta Dipping Grill (bomb fondue) -Trillium (Scandinavianish)
Sushi: -Sushi Den -Land of Sushi -Sushi Sasa
Eclectic: -Linger
Ice Cream: -Glacier (in Boulder) -Bonnie Brae
French: -Z Cuisine -Bistro Vendome
Middle Eastern: -Jerusalem's (though it seems it's kinda gone downhill... wouldn't go outta my way for this) -Marrakesh Restaurant (friend owns it, solid Lebanese food, but not the best I've ever had tbh) -Damascus Restaurant
I didn't even try to name a bunch of types of food just because I don't eat them (the most notable would be Mexican, huge presence in Denver; also, Italian, because it's just not the same as Italy... duh).
CityGrille and Paramount Cafe both have it. I've never tried it at City, but the Paramount one was solid ~2 years ago.
Also, Buffalo Restaurant on the way up to the mountains in Idaho Springs has some amazing Buffalo burgers: http://www.buffalorestaurant.com/menu_burgers.php
Eat at root down or linger. New American hipster food but absolutely great. Reservations are 2-4 weeks out; call for a table in the bar. Expect 40-50 for two people with no drinks.
For those who like root down, rumor is they are opening at DIA. Weird I know, but fucking awesome too.
Linger is the shit. Luckily have a friend with a connect, so don't have to wait for res bahaha. And that's really weird, I've heard of RD (never been), but doesn't seem like the airport restaurant-type place
PS- If you haven't been to Venice, you've gotta go. I've only been to the DTC one, but I've heard the downtown one is just as good.
Another tidbit, Root Down's owner started Linger. Root down is in a remodeled car garage, Linger a remodelled mortuary.
http://blogs.westword.com/cafesociety/2011/04/chef_and_tell_part_two_ju…
Made a reservation at Venice...
The sign is already up for Root Down at DIA...not sure when it opens.
.
Holy s**t, you guys rock! Its gonna take me a good two years to try all these restaurants and bars. I appreciate all the info.
I come from the actual "Sunshine State", so its gonna be a big change of scenery from my tourist haven. Can't wait to get out and explore everything, any climbers, hikers, campers in here? Any fourteeners aficionados?
Thanks again everyone.
Some solid information above. I'd also tell you to look into LoHi/the Highlands as solid places to live; that's where most of the new restaurants/bars are going in these days. Also, Capitol Hill is a good option that is a little cheaper. RiNo is going to be the next up and coming neighborhood as the Highlands, which were the "new" spot, have already peaked. My order of places to live - 1) LoDo, 2) LoHi, 3) Highlands
A few more restaurants that I don't believe have been mentioned: - The Kitchen (LoDo) - owned by Kimbal Musk - Squeaky Bean (LoDo) - Stella - good inexpensive Italian (Highlands) - Tamayo - fancy Mexican, just reopened (LoDo) - Russel's Smokehouse (LoDo) - LoHi Steakbar (LoHi) - good prices and atmosphere - Central Bistro (LoHi) - Euclid Hall (LoDo)
One comment on the above - I'd actually avoid Venice. It's expensive and food is just ok. Stella or Il Posto are much better Italian options, or Luca D'Italia, if you want to go really expensive.
Agree on Stella and Tamayo, don't know the others. And damn, I've never heard anyone say they thought the food was just ok. Which one did you try, or have you been to both?
I live a block away from the Venice in LoDo. Have been dozens of times...never been to the other one (didn't even know they had a second location). Their late night happy hour is a decent deal, but I'd choose Stella or Il Posto over it at any time for quality of food and price.
Just went to Il Posto last night. I 100% agree now
I've been going to the DTC for 10 or so years, they've always been good. You're right on the expensive part, though. There's also a third location by the same chef, Chianti, also in DTC.
There's also some vodka bar in lodo (i think near 15th st) w/ cheap carafes of flavored vodka. Had some excellent times pregaming there
I believe you're talking about Red Square (in Larimer Square, mentioned it above)
yea that sounds about right, nothing quite like starting off the night with 10 shots of vodka.
I gotta say, I'm surprised by how many working WSOers are in Denver.
Was thinking the same
Seconded.
Any of yall care to divulge what yall are doing work-wise out there? I'm thinking of moving back to the Rockies - NYC sucks.
There are actually a few more that haven't posted on this thread that I know of. Maybe time for a Denver WSO meetup haha
Just found this, awesome to see such a big WSO presence in Denver, I was pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely be up for a Denver WSO meet up, I'm guessing that a lot of the folks that go to Capital Hour would show up.
Someone made a group for Denver folk, might be useful to people interested in Denver: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/group/denver-professionals

Denver meetup? (Originally Posted: 07/13/2013)
Hello All,
I am going to be in Denver for the next few months and was wondering if any of you had a good ol WSO style meetup before. If anyone wants to meet for some drinks, I would be very interested.
Hey man, definitely down for this. Next two weeks I am available for a mid-week post-work happy hour. PM me and we can meet up.
Peter, whats happening.
I would also be interested. Governor's park is a great place as they have happy hour every single day.
What if we said a few weeks out to give people plenty of notice. Maybe August 1?
august 2nd or the week of august 5th? im out of town the first four days of that july 28th week
good for me
I'm going to get this posted on the front page Mon or Tues next week. Make it an official WSO meetup if you guys are cool with that. Would love to come out and see some of you guys.
Great let's plan on august 2nd, maybe 5pm or 6pm, whenever
I'm in moving to Denver the 24th of July so I'll be trying to network/meet new people in the area. Cheers
Well that's 4 so far, let's see if we can get some more...
WSO Denver Meetup 6pm-8pm - GP has a happy hour from 3-7pm, so maybe switch it to 5-7? Friday, August 2, 2013 (tentatively) Govnr's Park
5-7 works for me, yep
I am in as well...sounds great. I dig that place.
.
I might be doing happy hour with my coworkers as that is my first week of work. If you guys are staying around after 7 update this post and I will try and make it there.
It looks like I can't do Friday, sorry guys, maybe you all can still meet up? Haven't seen any updates from anyone, if you all are still interested I advise you PM the others. Hopefully I'll be available for something before I leave Denver, but that's starting to look unlikely
I am still in for 5 pm. PM me as I will be down there anyways
We still on? I'll be there between 5 and 6
in at 5pm. I rode my bike to work today, so look for the guy in basketball shorts.
Damn I've been wearing shorts and sandals to the office this week. Gym shorts is on a whole other level. Ha
Alright ill see you fellas there
I am sitting in a booth to the right after you walk in. Dark blue polo shirt.

I'm driving from Chicago to Denver for 5 days in a couple weeks. Is there anything along the way I should check out? Anything in Denver I need to see? I'm going with a girl who's 20, so nothing that cards
I can only speak for Denver but from my experience I would recommend the following:
1) Breweries along 16th Mall St. (located in downtown area) 2) Avalanche/ Nuggets (both arenas are within walking distance from downtown) 3) Red Rocks Park (short ride from downtown area - approx. 20 mins from Denver) 4) Boulder, CO (Great day trip destination for shopping, sightseeing, and food - approx. 45 mins from Denver)

Flyover states... Off topic, Utah has some of the best skiing on the planet.
You can stop in Missouri and come out to the bars with me bro. Other than that I would just watch out for State Troopers on the CO/KS border when you're driving back because they like to stop people w/o CO plates who are leaving the state if you look youngish.
i grew up in chicago and went to college in boulder, so i used to make this drive all the time. trust me, there is nothing along the way that is worth checking out. denver/boulder are both awesome, but if youre going out there you need to ski Vail.
Eat some burritos at Illegal Petes. Go down to Colfax and see the ethnic part of Denver.
Just curious to see how the drive went? What did you end up doing out there?
I found a surprising lack of liberal vibe. I figured it'd be worse than San Fran. People are friendly and big on the healthy lifestyle thing, which is cool.
Oh yeah. Ate at the largest truckstop in the world!!! Cool?
Ah the Iowa 80 truckstop in Walcott. That's Iowa's statue of liberty.
