LSE MSc Fin vs. IMEX
Hi guys,
After applying last year to more "international affairs related" programs, I have decided to re-apply this year to more "business oriented" programs. As such, I'm trying to define the specific Masters I want to apply to.
My career goals resides in private equity with a focus on impact investing in emerging markets. So on a first basis, a Msc in Finance would make more sense than a management program. However, I graduated with a dual degree in Econ&BusMgmt and PolSci and most of my experience has been in consulting firms although I will intern at a BB in the near future.
The question is therefore: do I have the required quant background and do I want to enroll in very quant programs (I think the answer to the 2nd question tends to be "no"). My ideal program would look like the HEC MSc in International Business as it appears to be at the crossroad of both fields with courses such as "Emerging markets finance". It is also why I am considering the LSE IMEX since the 2nd semester is spent at a US uni where it would be "more" possible to take finance classes.
So what's your take? Which other programs would you recommend for this kind of career paths?
Thanks!
LSE does not offer any MFin program, I assume you mean their MSc in Finance program.
If you want to work in finance, it is hard to find program in Europe with a better placement than that. If that is your final goal, it is an easy decision. While I am no expert on the topic I would guess you already have the emerging market requisite covered with your degree in PolSci.
The other mgmt programs of LSE are also great (I got one myself), but have a much weaker placement when it comes to high finance.
LBS MiF you mean?
LSE MSc in Finance, LBS MiM = for newbies
LBS MiF = MBA finance focus
