Lunch at work??????
Is it socially acceptable to bring your own lunch to work? I like to eat healthy and don't want to spend money on crap all the time.

What kind of question is this...
Do you live in North Korea? Are your freedoms restricted?
No. So if you do bring food, you're going to have to eat it in the bathroom stall. Usually I bring very soft foods such as tuna sandwiches and Gogurts (spoons make too much noise), BUT if you do decide to bring something crunchy it is CRUCIAL to flush during every bite to maintain inconspicuousness.
So instead of being outed as someone eating you will give the appearance that you are dying from dysentery.
Nope, Analysts aren't allowed to eat.
Yes. Unless there is a group lunch I always bring mine. Breaks are for getting more work done.
you sound fun
It is, but if your group is a big lunch crew maybe pick 1 day a week and plan to eat with people (Friday?)
Low carb meal prep for work. Suggestions? (Originally Posted: 07/16/2016)
Hey guys.
Just started my internship at a VC firm and I'm psyched as shit. It feels awesome to be part of the world of finance and I look forward to learning all that I can.
However, working office hours won't do my body any favors. I'm currently 3 weeks in my low carb/high protein and fat diet, and the results speak for themselves. I don't want to ruin the progress I've made, as I'm utterly done with being chubby (albeit not too much, but still no athlete haha).
So I can't just go and order a sandwich from the canteine or anything, so I'll have to pack lunch. Does anybody have any suggestions of what I can pack that fits into my diet? I had packed chicken salad (no dressing) for my first day, but I can't keep bringing that now can I (or anything that smells, for obvious reasons).
Thanks!
Coffee + more coffee + tuna mayo (cheap and quick to make) + listerine + more coffee...
Otherwise if you want to do it properly check out http://realmealrevolution.com
My in-office lunches:
Prepackaged cold cuts for like $4.99 that have about 40g protein total 8oz Flank steak sliced up thin on top of spinach with tomatoes and yogurt-based ranch dressing 8oz Lean cheeseburger (93/7) - no bun 8oz Shredded chicken with a little bit of bbq sauce or if I want to be really sad that day, a can of low sodium Tuna in water
Cheers CRE. Don't think I'm so prepared to destroy my life with tuna in water for lunch, but top suggestions regardless!
It is technically ok. But only the poor people do it.

How often do people in ER get to go out for lunch? In other words, are associates/analysts confined to eating at their desks everyday or is there 45 minutes to escape the monotony?
Next thing you know, you'll be asking about weekends off...

Ho wofter are ER analysts/associates allowed to take coffee breaks? cos if its only twice a day I may have to reocnsider my career path
45 minutes? Yes, there's the 45 minutes before 6am, and 45minutes after 11pm. Twice a day for coffee breaks? That's what espresso machines are for. I have one on my desk. Saves me at least 10 minutes a day.
If you're working 6am - 11pm in research then you're either terribly inefficient or your boss is a sadist.
To the OP, I'd say it depends on where you work. I work at a boutique firm, which is much more laid back than a BB would be. We have lunch catered every day because the traders and most of the salesmen usually don't leave for lunch. However, most of research goes out to lunch every day unless its earnings season or you're just really busy. I would say my firm is pretty more laid back than most though given that we're fairly small, private and in New Orleans.
RJR that's pimp. I would definitely walk down to Mother's or Harrah's for some lunch blackjack everyday.
Mother's debris sandwich.
Jesus, you need a shower after that thing.

Don't forget about the $6 lunch buffet at Rick's Cabaret every day. Its'definitely not a bad town to work in.
I can honestly say I've never caught the buffet at Rick's. Just something about day-crew strippers that inspire me to find something else to do.
Friday lunch at Galatoire's, though, is another thing altogether.
