Major Upgrade to Drupal 6 - This Saturday - 12pm est
I just wanted to give everyone the heads up that we are making a major upgrade to the site this Saturday at 12:00pm est so we will likely be down for a few hours. We are currently running on Drupal 5 (for the past several years) and it is time to get up to Drupal 6 so we can keep adding new features (like silver bananas and monkey shit).
We expect after a week or so of tuning that the site will also run faster and going forward we will be able to offer many more features. Please be patient because after the upgrade there will probably be 2-3 days where things aren't necessarily working 100% properly, etc. Also, the site will be ugly (but hopefully functional) until Monday....so again, please be patient.
Thanks,
Patrick
this is a test
Goodluck with the fixes!
thanks compbanker...things will be ugly until Monday and potentially slower for a few weeks but we have a lot more power to tweak and tune the site. I expect by November it will be faster than before.
can't wait to add some new features as well...

Have problems loading the forums, 3/4 of the time I click on a forum and enter but no posts show up only white blank space where the posts should show up. I also used IE 8, Opera, Firefox to load the site and I still run into the problem. Also when I check my messages it keeps asking me to log in.
i havent been able to replicate the forum issue but you should now be able to access your messages.
Thanks, Patrick
I'm encountering the same problem. When I click the forum it loads the entire page EXCEPT the thread list. Can only read threads now by clicking on the forum topics on the right or navigating through users' recent posts (which is how I got to this thread).
yeah, just noticed that getting to the forums through /forums and then clicking on the forum page is not working properly in Internet Explorer / Chrome, etc. It is working in Firefox but this obviously won't work. We are working to fix it...plus by the end of the day tomorrow we will be doing some theming to clean up the site.
Apologies about the speed as well...I think the site is a bit slower, what do you guys think? (there is still a lot of clean up and tuning we are going to do to speed it up)
Thanks, Patrick
thx, its getting better. I can see my messages and the new thread feature with them.
I like the new design, works perfectly in the last two days (before that the page would load in a weird format).
Using firefox does not fix the problem for me. I do use Chrome as nearly my exclusive browser though.
this should be fixed now. tomorrow the theme / layout should be cleaned up a bit and then the rest of the week we will continue to tune and optimize the site. In early November we will also be moving to a new server that will allow us to improve the speed of navigation / page loads even more.
Thanks, Patrick
where is the link to see all of the threads that i am participating in? that isn't where it used to be and i can't find it.
was that feature removed?
Are you referring to the track module? If you click on Your Account in upper right hand corner (partially hidden behind the search bar - i know, ugly, will be fixed by tomorrow) you can click on the tab "track" to see all the discussion you've commented on.
In ters of seeing which comments are "new" to you, etc. nuder "Recent", that is currently not available in this version of tracker but we are looking to get that functionality back because we also found it useful.
Thanks for your patience.
-Patrick
I miss being able to see the number of new posts on a thread which I haven't read yet.

The consulting forum only has posts from 2 years ago
looking into this asap.
Thanks, Patrick
i think that was an issue with the cache because right now i see recent consulting topics in the consulting forum. do you?
Thanks, Patrick
Yup, I see them too now. Only 1 page though, there are no page numbers for the older pages.
Just had to say that the site is a lot faster even on a weak wifi connection. Good Job !
thanks SAC...we are having trouble with some of the blocks (especially for logged out users) -- they keep stacking, but the site should only get faster once we move to another server. I've hired a Drupal consultant that will manage the server and tune it to make the site scale and perform better.
Thanks, Patrick
I'm seeing this weird thing where 75% of the i-banking forum topics are labeled as threads that have been moved.
yeah - we've been looking into this since yesterday. hoping we can find a solution today. thanks for the patience.
-Patrick
this is now fixed...you shoudl not see so many "moved' topics. thanks for the heads up.
the private messages are our main concern right now. we know they are all still there but we are having trouble with permissions. We can make them so everybody can you them (including other users), but we are having trouble making them viewable only to the specific user. stay tuned.
Thanks, Patrick
Who said that I'm being patient???
can you see the pagination now? we are working on getting the "moved" topics back and should have a solution by tomorrow.
Thanks, Patrick
First of all, thanks for this good job. The site seems pretty faster including with a slow wifi connexion!
However, when I check my messages it keeps asking me to log in, while I have already logged in...
Thank you for your help and your time
Messages are a problem for me too. When I check my messages it keeps asking me to log in, while I have already logged in.
I can't see any new / active threads, only popular , which is fine but just checking.
Overall the site is faster, great job.
thought we had run into a dead end but Khalid worked his magic and all of you should now be able to check your PMs (without other users seeing them). working our way down the list...
-Patrick
every time i try to check msgs on ie or mozilla, just keeps asking me to log in
every time i try to check msgs on ie or mozilla, just keeps asking me to log in
every time i try to check msgs on ie or mozilla, just keeps asking me to log in
we are working on a solution to this...right now the only way to make them accessible makes it so everybody can read the PMs.
There seems to be more double posts than usual. With some topics appearing multiple times in the forum listings (both with the entire thread intact).
Excellent work. The pagination is perfect and things are running smoothly. I'm very impressed with the upgrade.
P.S. I was only kidding about the lack of patience comment...
This is a test: Potential new problem.
Yup, new problem: It appears as though my posts don't add any banana points to my total, yet it says I've earned a banana point. The exact language is:
"User CompBanker earned 1 banana points Total now is 1292 banana points."
However, my points aren't adding up!
bananas are back - sorry about that.

Thank you for fixing the problem with PM. You've done a great job!
Any way to incorporate notification in the top right hand corner if we get new messages? If I remember correctly, in the past there would be a (1) or something if we had a message waiting.
we will look into this. should be doable and i agree it is useful...might now be for 1-2 weeks though. higher priority items right now...
Love the updated new/active topics - now that the issues are ironed out, like the theming much better in that box now...great work, keep it up!
thanks. yeah, this was a challenge but we finally got it ironed out and i think it looks much cleaner. the ranked view still isnt showing the proper threads...but we'll fix that in due time.
We are moving to a stronger server tentatively Nov. 1 so we shoudl see an improvement in speed. i've noticed posting a topic/comment seems a bit slow so we might try to dig into that.
what is everyone's perception on speed?
thanks, Patrick
Patrick,
Still noticing an inordinate number of double posts and double posts that have the entire thread appearing in the forum lists.
yes, i think this has to do with the posting speed slowing down so people click twice while the first one is still processing...hopefully my mods can help me keep it clean until we can improve speed on that end.
moving to a new server either Nov. 1 or Nov. 8.
-Patrick
Why doesn't the PM inbox tell me when I have new messages anymore ? That was a good feature. I just checked my inbox and saw messages from a week ago.
