Hedge Fund Market Wizards? Read Now?
So I just bought a ton of used cheap books from Amazon, the godfather books, fight club, a couple political books, and about 8 or 9 finance books..
My question is how good of a book is Hedge Fund Wizards?
2nd should I read this right away, I've read a few books on investing, most basic beginner stuff such as the 10part's in one Investing for Dummies; The Richest Man in Babylon, The First Book of Investing, and a couple of Warren Buffet books.
I've never read a book dedicated to just trading.
Should I read Hedge Fund Wizards now, or wait?
I have Stock Market Wizards, a couple Peter Lynch books, Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor, and a couple other books?
I planned on starting one of the other books before I got into Hedge Fund Wizards but they wont be in till later this week, so would it be alright to knockout Hedge Fund Wizards now or should I wait till I have an even better knowledge base?
I recommend the entire series, just as long you know a bit about investing before hand.
.
Also check out Alpha Masters, essentially a ripoff of the Market Wizards books.
Same format as HF Market Wizards, but with a few bigger names such as Ackman & Loeb.
^ You clearly haven't read Alpha Masters which is just a bunch of Wikipedia pages for each fund slammed together in a book format.

Hey,
Wondering if you guys ever read either of the Market Wizards books by Jack D. Scwhager and what you thought of them. I just read one of them and thought it was really good. Awesome to see guys like Druckenmiller and Yass talking about their strategies.
I even posted a review you guys can check out: http://www.dayonbay.ca/reviews/book-reviews/257-book-review-the-new-mar…
Would love to hear your thoughts!
lol @ the Blankfein comment.
I've read two of his books and thought they were really good. Interesting to read about the strategies as wel
Loved those books.
daveveitch,
I have read "The New Market Wizards" and I must say I HIGHLY enjoyed that read. I find other people's journeys to get where they are now very fascinating. Those books truly show the concept of how personable trading is since you can trade ANY way you want too.
I hope people who find it difficult or not cut out to be a trader inspired to read these stories. It goes to show you that not anyone just grows up with someone mentoring them since age 1. The fact is that we all had to START SOMEWHERE!
I do own the DvD presentation of "The Market Wizards" and I am very anxious to see whats different in the video then the book!

I didn't know that Market Wizards was on DVD. Sounds interesting!
yeah i enjoyed market wizards and the new wizards book. but it's all just fluffy make you feel good BULLSHIT. it's all the same recycled BULLSHIT that you read on trading websites/forums. you need to have discipline and tip-top money management. BLAH BLAH BLAH
it won't help you become a better trader but it might help guide you to figuring out what kind of trader you want to be.
Anyone knows where to download the PDF copy, by the way?
Very good. Some thoughts are quite inspiring.
Market Wizards or the New Market Wizards (Originally Posted: 01/04/2008)
If I only have enough money to purchase one of these books, which do you suggest?
I was leaning towards the New Market Wizards (published in '94) as Market Wizards is slightly outdated (published in '89)
I'm buying these books in preparation for SA interviews
BUY THEM BOTH. Simply put I am who i am today because of those books. Very influential material. They are more about traders personality than anything else. Very non quantitative. Again phenomenal books.
