Marketing in CPG to Corp Strategy or Consulting
Been offered an internship opportunity working with the marketing dept in J&J, and mulling over whether I should take up the offer.
My key concern is whether marketing can be used as a platform to leverage myself for corp strategy or even consulting roles in the future (i know consulting may be quite a stretch). If I were to pursue a career in marketing, it would be for the CPG sector in brand management. However one thing that I am unclear about is the difference between doing brand management and marketing in a CPG company.
Also, there is a high chance that I would have to take a semester off school in order to take on and complete this internship. Would it be worth it? I've heard from seniors about the wonders a brand name like J&J on your CV can do for you. How true is this?
