MBA to PE/VC in Canada
Currently I'm working at a second tier consulting firm (Big 4, Accenture etc.) in Canada, promoted last year and looking to make the jump to PE/VC with the help of an MBA. I'm looking to stay in Canada after an MBA, which would lend me to think outside of HBS and few other schools, a Canadian school is the best choice, due to cost, location, network etc. I'm hoping for some feedback in a few key areas.
1. With no financial background prior the MBA (undergrad was in econ), is a summer internship in finance required?
2. Does Ivey's network outweigh the need for have a summer internship?
3. What schools are best in Canada at placing students in the buy-side with no prior finance exp?
I'm open to suggestions, and I do understand that PE/VC might not be possible straight out of MBA but I'd like to choose the program that gives me the highest chance now and in the future.
Thanks!
Move to TAS or something; lots of people at midlevel PE shops in Canada seem to have that background
