MBA vs Certificates

Hello WSO Community,

I am new to the website, just looking for guidance on career development. My background is in Finance but have found it difficult to find a financial analyst/business analyst/equity research analyst position which is the idea for my career. Fortunately I have been able to find a job recently (not in finance currently) but with a great company with truly unlimited opportunities. I do understand their is the potential for growth as I grow with the company but would like to be ready for the opportunity when it does arrive. As I find it difficult now with just a bachelor's, I was looking into other alternatives besides going to a masters program ( as it is very very expensive, and do not want to graduate without some level of job placement) which if I did would be going for business analytics. (atleast the idea looking into the future). I was told to take a look at courses in coursera to give me an idea of what it was that I truly want to pursue. Now that I have given my background I suppose my true question would be if having a masters is still considered the tradition as supposed to online learning courses like coursera, or even Certificates In my case (CFA) in my field or for the positions that I stated previously? Thanks for the time and consideration.
