MBA>global macro fund?

Aside from bridgewater, do any macro hedge funds recruit at the top b-schools? I know that a lot of IM and long-short equity funds do recruit on-campus, but i'm not sure if this is the case for macro funds. If not, is mba>trading at a BB>macro a more common path?

for quant funds, what is the difference between joining as an undergrad and as a PhD?

At the fund i work at - Undergrads join as analysts; phds join as associates. The work itself isn't too different - both start off doing more programming, making enhancements to the models. The analysts hired usually have significant research experience, and so can handle math and data reasonably well. That said, an associate might get more meaningful responsibility earlier.

thanks. so the undergrads tend to stay in the firm and move up, instead of having to get a PhD for promotion?

Yes. Unlike PE, where people are sometimes expected to get an MBA, there's no expectation to get a PhD. It's partly because there is an established IBD->pre-MBA PE->MBA->PE pipeline, while at HFs it's all about what value you can add. If you're good enough, you can stay.
