McKinsey Experienced Hire Call - Advise?
Hello,
I'm a 26 year old with international (Asia) and Silicon Valley tech startup experience. I came from a non target with background in finance and statistics.
I have a call on Friday with a McKinsey experienced hire recruiter. I was able to arrange this through a friend of a friend who is currently an employee. The recruiter said over email that she would be willing to answer any questions I may have about the experienced hire recruiting process. She already has my resume in hand.
I foresee this call going one of two ways:
- She treats it as a phone screen interview.
- She frames it as purely informational answering any questions I may have and kindly suggests I apply online. May also tell me to come back after my MBA (currently on the wait list at Booth).
I see #2 as far more likely. But a question for all of you experts out there. Does McKinsey ever sway from the familiar undergrad/Analyst, MBA/Associate recruitment pattern?
Basically, I'm trying to figure out whether I have a real shot here, or if she is just doing my friend of a friend a favor and giving me 15 minutes.
Regardless, I'm prepped with why McKinsey, why now, and what I can bring to the table. Any other areas I you all recommend I should be ready to discuss? Thanks, I'm trying to create a bit of personal certainty in a rather vague situation.
