Help: "Meet the team" Interview

I am switching my job from a residential& mixed-use developer to a commercial brokerage firm. So two days after the first interview, I was invited to the second interview and they told me it is to meet the team. If things move smoothly, they will extend an offer to me. The role I am applying for is the only position that does underwriting, the rest of the team are agents. What questions should I ask? How should I present myself to make myself welcomed? Any advice? Thank you

Be friendly and fun. Try to match their personalities - if they are reserved don't talk as much, if they're laughing and joking, try to go along. If you can, find out who they are before hand (search titles on linked in) and maybe figure out a common interest you can throw in there. If they ask if you have any questions, ask, "what advice would you give to someone entering this job?" This make sure you seem willing to learn, and a team player. Plus you might learn something important.

Be someone that they could see themselves being able to stand being around for 8-12 hours/day and you'll be fine.

I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young, they bring you up to do like your daddy done

I'm not in IB at the moment, but I've read this forum for a long time and it seems like you have an in at the firm. If you impress the people there I don't see why you wouldn't have a good-great shot of landing a late interview of some sort.

Good luck man seems like you're in.

Yeah man this sounds very promising. Just a heads up-I did this a couple times for SA recruiting and you have to be prepared for anything. I sat down and chatted with a few different people individually- while some people just talked about college and hobbies, some people grilled me on technicals. So while the #1 thing is just to seem like a cool person to work with, definitely be prepared for anything. good luck man.

Hes not inviting you in to see if you like the new drapes in his office dude. Treat this as a formal interview and come with your A game.

We've got half a million shares in the bag!

I went through a very similar situation. I had my contact (a VP), come in and chat with me first. Then they brought in 1 person from the team at a time. From junior level upwards. So first I met with A1, then A2's etc... Each person from the team had different discussion points and questions for me, and I felt like as they left the room they would give the green light for the next higher up to come talk with me. Last person was main MD of the team, and he gave me an offer on the spot. I think the most important thing to have down pat is your story, and why it is you've ended up missing FT recruitment. Obviously, have the basic technicals down pat and make sure you have intelligent questions to ask members of the team.

When people say team, it's usually an inclusive phrase. If you weren't close to/going to be part of the team, they'd probably ask you to come me a few more people, or a few more members of XYZ group.

congrats.

when they say meet the team, its another interview with the team, so don't let your guards down. but it also means final stage before offer.

i had a meet the team session few months ago with a top hedge fund here in sydney.

i let my guards down and the team members didn't like my personality. said i was not geeky enough for them (considering they were all actuarial metalist winners in top uni).

oh well, maybe i'm just not geeky enough, however if you see the team conservative, then don't show aggressive personality. just smile and agree.
