i have patagonia, marmot, random brands for school and intern swag, and vineyard vines. in a blind taste test, patagonia wins. haven't coughed up enough money for arcteryx but, when i do, it better be worth it!
I have a North Face and an Arcteryx. They are both good, but if I have to use them it's a sign of a slow day.
I have a one from the Preakness...doesnt get more bro than that
arcteryx = the best
Love my pata-gucci. Just got a moosejaw fleece on the cheap... pretty impressed w/ it. Huge Mountain Hardwear fan too.
Currently wearing a black Patagonia from a private equity firm a relative is invested with. Also have a North Face (non-fleece) vest for cooler days with some humidity. The fleece can get hot really fast.
Arcteryx will be for the post-grad life. Nowhere near enough $ for that stuff right now.
North Face
North Face gear is for jewish sorority girls
be a man and enjoy the AC without a cute little fleece
This has to be one of the gayest, yuppiest threads I've seen so far
agreed
It's all about the LL Bean. Dripping swag...
fratagonia
This thread is funny. I'm wearing Patagonia right now, have arctery'x stuff too. Northface Summit Series stuff isn't too bad either.
Patagonia >>> North Face. Patagonia's warranty/replacement policy rivals Bean's, with a much frattier appearance.
i got a patagonia better sweater http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41HpySHvOgL.AA300.jpg sitting right under the AC isnt fun

I want to buy a fleece jacket and am not sure which one to go for. I want something which on its own could keep me warm at around temps of 5-10 degrees. Any thoughts? I was thinking about an Arc'teryx jacket. Has anyone tried this before? Which one would you recommend? Which ones are the warmest fleeces?
I'm personally a big fan of Mountain Hardware and Patagonia, though I don't really know much about their lines that meet your specs. You also need to decide if you want the fleece to offer some protection against wind.
I've got a Monkey Man from Moutain Hardware and couldn't be happier.
Warmest: Barbour fleece jacket. Hot as hell.
Check Patagonia, Westcomb, Peak Performance, Marmot, Mammut, Mountain Hardware, Norrona, Kjus Everyone wears North Face = lame!

a fleece isnt going to keep you warm at 5-10 degrees. you need a jacket with a shell on it too. Arcteryx is great, very expensive but in my mind they are the best jackets. Patagonia makes a quality jacket too, as does north face.

the jacket above is a solid, good looking jacket that will keep you warm. only thing is the price tag
Arcteryx jackets are great but pricey. They do have a lifetime warranty though so that's a plus. You can't go wrong with Patagonia either... Your best bet is to order a couple offline (if there are no stores nearby to try them on at), find which fits best and then return the rest.
Orvis and LL Bean make good fleeces
Depends on what you're using it for Arc'teryx is pretty high end technical stuff, so if you plan on climbing mountains with it - go with them. Otherwise, any of the alternatives here will be just fine. Check out Rab - great quality.
F or C? Because those are two wildly different temperatures.
Pretty sure they're all talking about 5-10 degrees Kelvin. You know, something to just keep warm while your environment approaches the theoretical thermodynamic lower limit, but which also doesn't get too hot while you wear it. Nothing worse than starting to sweat while all the ideal gasses around you lose their enthalpy and entropy, ammirite?
I go for the Patagonia and VV ones.
Arc'teryx is awesome! Roughly the same price range, but I'd also recommend Canada Goose. Another Canadian brand that has some cool looking winter gear (haven't tried it myself yet) is Moose Knuckles. Seems a little gimmicky, but they've got some great looking jackets.
If you're looking for something more performance wear oriented I'd also suggest Ibex.

1500 seems like a great deal for these! I don't know how no one has bid yet!
Dang, Steve really is selling his stuff off.
Was just hearing about this at work. The questions and description sections are great.
Definitely want one of the pens, or the visor.
Jon Horvath told me they're only worth $900.
Is there a knockoff market for SAC stuff? I'm thinking that with prices this high, someone's going to give it a shot.
This is disgusting. Also, to all aspiring equities SS monkeys, don't underestimate the impact of lower SAC trading volumes on your desk revenues.
Why would anyone in their right mind pay $1500 for a fleece jacket? Especially if they don't even work for SAC? Jesus christ. Probably some loser who thinks wearing a SAC jacket in a Manhattan bar will get them the attention of chicks.
