MS Finance after MBA?
Hello,
Does it make sense to do an MS in Finance after an MBA with finance concentration?
Also, my undergrad was in commerce. I'm in the top 1% of my class and I have a somewhat good profile, with college-level awards, paper presentations, and active participation. I have a passion for the field of finance and I don't think my MBA is going to provide me with adequate insight into the field. I'm not interested in a PhD.
I'm hoping to do my MS in at least the second tier colleges in the US. However, I did the bare minimum math in my undergrad. Should I bother with trying to apply for an MS in Finance? I understand that I cannot apply for Financial Engineering programs, but I'm looking for financial management related ones such as in UTexas Dallas or USC.
Any advice or opinions, please? Thank you for your time.
admissions want employable people who aren't crazy. ask yourself what's your story for them
MSF is for people with little work experience (0-3y.). If you've done MBA, you probably have more than that, so you'll be overqualified and won't be considered.

I don't think it makes much sense professionally as an MBA is the top business degree, but if you are actually interested in the academics of finance, but don't want to do a PHD then go ahead.
There are MSF programs that are more for working professionals and/or people with work experience so you should look into those. George Washington Uni and UIUC would be two that might be a good fit for you.
If you don't wanna do a PhD, you could look into whether a CFA would fill the knowledge/credential gaps you feel you may have.
I'd either do it PT or do the CFA. Or drop your MBA from the resume since it really didn't help you.
Then I'm sure adcoms/employers will want to know what he did during the two years unless you fake experience which is an offense. Dropping it is not sensible choice
