Mid/Jr Level Hedge Fund interview, what's Taboo?
Hi guys,
I've got a couple interviews coming up at some Hedge Funds for mid-level stuff (I'm 5 years in, most Jr portfolio manager type of roles). Some are at smaller (50-300mm) funds, some are at larger (1bn+) funds.
Obviously I want to pass the interviews, but I also want to learn more about some of these funds to see if I should go there... after all at this point in my career I still want to be around smart, successful people who I can learn from. So, what questions are good to ask and what are taboo/impolite?
Can I ask about current AUM? Recent returns? Trading themes and strategies? (These are all discretionary places) Exposure to senior management? Culture?
Thanks for your help, my interview experience has mostly been sell-side so far, and that data is readily available. I usually have a general idea of their AUM and returns, but it can be pretty dated info in this world.
