Misinformation on the board

I often hear that there is a ton of misinformation being spewed on the board by people still in school. Could the real bankers speak up and lay out some of the most common misconceptions? I know firm/group prestige is a huge one, and its all over the non-BB thread. I'm not too worried about that, but I would be concerned about bad advice regarding interviews, networking, etc.. Thanks.

Actually, most of the advice on here is fine. If someone says something incorrect about interviews, for example, they will usually get nailed on it.

Any thread that deals with prestige, college rankings or subjective topics in general will bring out the most opinionated (and sometimes ignorant) members.

You should always take what you read on here with some skepticism. What is this person's perspective? Are they a student? An associate? In general, I find that the majority of the members on this board are helpful to others. (obviously I am biased)

Gotcha. I definitely have learned an incredible amount from reading this board for the past few months. More than all the vault guides, info sessions, and networking q&as I've been through combined. Just wanted to make sure there weren't any small things that I was misinformed about..
