MIT Sloan Perception
Wanted to see if I could get everyone's thoughts / perceptions on MIT Sloan - I've been admit to the 2YR MBA program.
Of the MBA business schools">M7 schools, Sloan seems to be the least discussed on this forum. How do you all view the program? Hoping to better understand what those outside of the program think of it.
Baller man. Congrats!
go man and never look back
Top 5 MBA, MIT name is powerful across the globe, and the program draws elite recruiters. Known for Tech, Ops, and E-ship but places just as strongly (moreso, actually) in Consulting-and I doubt that students there interested in anything else have any issues. What more do you need? Congrats
Definitely agree Sloan's rep on this board is not commensurate with its ranking in all these publications.
Congrats! Like the others have said, great program with what seems to be a higher emphasis on tech/entrepreneurship than some of the other M7s.
The opinions on this board are really driven by 6-7 current MBA students that attend Kellogg, Booth, Tuck, and Columbia...which is why they are brought up a ton. Sloan is great in placements (probably the 4th best school after Wharton), but a bit socially awkward.
you havent been to mit, have you
I have, one of my best friends goes there.
Currently a first year at Sloan. Cannot agree that we are "socially awkward" at all.
Feel free to PM me with any questions - happy to help out a prospective student!
I suppose the reason I ask about the limited discussion on this forum is because of the ranking / strength of the program. Would be awesome to get a current first year to post a re-cap of their first year at Sloan, similar to what's been posted for Tuck, Kellogg, Booth, etc.
Appreciate the congrats. I'm stoked to matriculate at Sloan this fall. Couldn't be more thrilled

I think Sloan people probably troll this forum less. I can see alot of Boothies and Whartonites on here though.
maybe no one talks about MIT Sloan, but no one is looking down on it. Congrats
MIT/Sloan - What's the Scoop? (Originally Posted: 12/26/2006)
So here's the deal:
I recently had a great on campus experience at Sloan b-school and I was very surprised. Alot of people, including my close friends have told me that Sloan is a nerd school. They say that the kids who attend Sloan are overworked, cerebral social degenerates with no personality.
I'll admit, some of the students I met, I got that impression. But not all. Also, I didn't see much of a minority mix. (Alot of Asian-Americans) but very few of anything else.
Can anyone tell me the truth about Sloan? How do the BB's view these graduates when they apply for IB, PE and HF opportunities?
MIT has alot of math/science guys, but alot of them are alright. They place well in IBD and even better in quant.
MIT Sloan for Banking (Originally Posted: 12/18/2015)
How good is MIT for banking recruiting? Seems like it is a great feeder into MBB but haven't really heard of many students going into IB. MBB pay kinda sucks out of B-school.
Wondering if I should apply to Columbia/Booth instead
What about other finance jobs like in IM?
Apply to everything, and see where you get in. All of these schools are "fine" for banking. Some are more geared towards banking or PE, but you shouldn't have any trouble breaking in from either of these schools.
