It is probably one of the toughest places in the world to get a job...MC is run by Louis Bacon who works out of the London office...They probably take interns, but my guess is that they are all relationship hires and that interns are not in the pipeline for their FT positions.

I worked there as an SA on their equity desk a few years ago during my MBA so I can't say much about their trading strategies other than that they take macro bets mostly in FI, Currency, & Commodities. That should be no surprise - afterall, they are 1st and foremost a macro-fund. As far as portfolio and risk analysis, I would say they are very tight. They have some of the best risk-quant PhDs in the field there leading the charge.

hey guys do you know if you can switch from a prop shop to a decent hedge fund? what about a market maker? i'm more interested in macro and quant (as opposed to long-short or event driven)

what about from s&t or am?

Great global macro hedge fund.

They actually do in fact have an internship program that can translate into FT jobs. The internship program however is VERY new and is not the type of thing you apply to through your campus OCR like you would bulge brackets. Rather, you essentially need to have a connection to get into the program.

can't help a lot, but i have met someone in one of their l/s groups. he told me they (at least his group) have no macro element what so ever, entirely bottoms up. didn't ask about anything else.

I have a classmate who used to work in that group. It was entirely bottom-up, but he didn't like it because Moore is a macro fund at its core, and he felt that the L/S group was second fiddle.

All long short equity has an inherent macro view built into it at the PM level. Whether use use bottom up , or top down analysis that will embody a macro view whether you go in search of it or whether it comes about due to views on industries.

to trade long short equity well you have to have a developed world view, as it's very unlikely there is sufficient liquidity to trade your stocks picks outright.
