Morgan Stanley called back. Is that good?

I had several interviews with MS, the last one was last friday with two executive directors. They said they didn't know yet if i was considered for an internship or a full-time position. The interview went ok and they said they would get back at me in two weeks. They called back today saying that they ask me to be a patient for a little while longer but they didn't say why. Has this ever happened to anybody? I know a guy who it happened to and he said for him it was because they offered the job for someone else and they were still waiting for his answer. If the other person would've turn the job down, the guy i know would have been their second option. So i thought that could be the case with me however there is not a specific job that they consider me for so I don't know. I'd appreciate any information on this! Thank you!

I think you are correct that you are an alternate and just barely didn't make the cut. That is good though, you were just one rung away from the job, a lot closer than many of the posters here. Get a little work experience, and you will have a very good shot getting in later. Keep up relationships with everyone you communicated with at the bank. Ask for advice on how to make the cut next time and follow it. I think you are less than 50% right now but if you handle the next few months to a year max you can very likely get in.
