Morgan Stanley No. 1 but what about Bonus

Seems like these guys are doing great but still cutbacks in Bonus or really small renumeration this year, whats up with that?

Any opinions on MS, bonus etc.

M&A activity, while a major part of a bank's activity, is only just that ... a part. So, the M&A group will get bling while the other groups get little to no bling, assuming the rainmakers could not bring in business or clients for the other activities.

One of the hotly contested data points was Dealogic’s treatment of the U.S. Treasury’s conversion of its TARP preferred stock in American International Group. Dealogic counted this transaction as a “change of control,” worth $40.9 billion, which gave a leg up to Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citigroup and Rothschild.

Of course, for Goldman there is always Thomson Reuters, which doesn’t include the AIG deal in its 2010 league tables. Morgan Stanley finished as No. 2 in the Thomson Reuters rankings, which had Goldman in the top spot.

mystery solved. cudos to CS btw.

Also think CS has been extremly strong this year. Was just wondering cause MS was number 3 and 4 for a long time period throughout the year and now jumped up to 1 or 2.

Concerning the bonus, I got the overall impression that IBD, maybe excluding their M&A team, didnt get a bonus or might not get a bonus on pair with other banks that a ranking in the top 10 here on the league tables (might be wrong).

Morgan Stanley remains one of the strongest franchises on Wall Street, and interestingly no one has ever accused them of being a blood funnel. They serve their clients first, not themselves. I have always been impressed by this group, they are the last remaining white shoe firm.

Please forgive this noob question. What percent of that 596B does Morgan collect in fees?

I believe its 2% to 4% but I could be wrong.

Wow, if this is true, it's pretty incredible. I thought it would be less than 1%.
