Morgan Stanley Weekend Policy?
Hey WSO,
Recently got approached by friends about an IB analyst position opening. I've been contemplating a move to a BB for some time but it would have to be a good fit for me culturally (thinking long-term, not really interested in PE/HF).
Given that basically all BBs have a weekend policy of some sort, and I value my sanity and life outside of work, I was wondering if any of you guys know if Morgan Stanley now has a formal weekend policy in place? I searched on the forums and press releases and there seems to be no definitive answer, other than how MS formed a committee to address the issue.
Thanks!
No, they do not
Nope - no formal policy
Do most weekend policies apply to both analysts and associates?
No idea
Find this really unfortunate. I'm willing to bet there will be analyst/associates choosing other banks over MS (not named GS) for this alone. Given that every major bank now has something in place this is kind of surprising

We've seen a trend on Wall Street over the past few months of BB banks instituting their distinct weekend policies. GS, Citi, BAML, and CS amongst others have committed to this formalized rule. Do you think that MS will in their footsteps? What have you heard about their current stance on the issue?
Gorman has been reluctant to cede ground. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-22/gorman-says-firm-reviewing-wor…
Maybe. But IMO, people that get offers from both GS and MS will still take GS regardless of whether or not there's a policy. And people will still take MS over JPM and all the other BB's with policies.
Not sure I agree with that. Especially MS vs JPM.
Most people I speak to consider JPM and Morgan Stanley as peers nowadays When I was undergrad, MS was the clear winner though.
Yeah, most of my friends took one over the other based more on likelihood of groups, not the intrinsic prestige difference between the two.
