Most left and right wing banks
What are the most liberal and conservative investment banks? I am wondering because I have a relative that works at a BB and he told me that the office is somber today after Trump was elected. I'm sure that there are banks that are celebrating today.
Agreed. But at the same time, this guy knows project development/real estate, and the US infrastructure is long due for some fixing. This may bring a lot of money for the project finance groups?
Not sure though if this anti-wall street stance will really hold true. I mean he has John Paulson, Feinstein (Cerberus), Mnuchin (ex GS Partner, Dune Capital) and Tom Barack (Colony Capital) among his advisor? And if he would make Mnuchin treasury secretary, Ross (ex Rotschild, WL Ross) commerce secretary and Romney secretary of state, that would seem like a pretty wall-street-ish government?
Though I am from the other side of the pond and didn't follow too closely, so maybe I'm missing sth here...?
If they repeal Dodd frank it'll be great for banks.
GS is the most pro-hillary bank on the street. After getting dinged by them after the interview I vowed to vote for Trump.
Not much in the way of banks....although for whatever reason I've noticed that a lot of senior Chicago buy-side folks are Trumpers.
I don't think banks are divided by political affiliation.
My group at a BB was split, but had quite a few conservatives. The PE firm I work at now leans more democrat. With that said though, Trump is pretty hated at both firms. I lean conservative and so do many of my friends and collectively we all hate him.
At the end of the day, Trump is anti free trade which will hurt the banks. Further, trump is anti globalization, anti immigration and has made insulting comments towards minorities. Based on my experience, big banks tend to be very ethnically diverse and the people working at them tend to be very open to diversity. Just to give you an idea, my analyst class at a BB had 10 analysts, 5 were minorities including 1 Muslim and 2 immigrants. Needless to say, Trump is very unpopular in my analyst class. For what it's worth, as a white male I am very upset trump won the election. It's very sad to talk with my friends from other countries who don't feel like they are wanted in the country anymore when frankly they do more for the country than the vast majority of trump voters.
.
I hope you are trolling. Otherwise you must be upset an immigrant took your IB analyst job.... With that mentality you would have been a bottom bucket analyst regardless.
Markets sure are loving Trump victory. Not sure what changed their mind. They went from ''it's another Brexit wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah'' to ''you know what? Maybe he's actually good''.
irrational fear turned to rational exhuberance
