Moving to a venture firm.
Just looking for some advice and direction to make a transition from business development at a biotech start up company into a VC fund. Suggestions for good recruiters particularly as I already have some personal connections with different funds.
My background, PhD in Molecular Biology from Imperial College London, post doc for 4 years (2yr at large multinational pharmaceutical company, 2yr at Columbia University, NYC). After academic post doc I got job as a research scientist at a mid-size privately held biotech company. I then decided to get my MBA while I'm still working (executive program). After 1 year of my MBA I got a business development job for a start up (Series A) spun out of a research institute by a seed stage VC firm. Been working there for about 6 months now. I've got 1 year left in my MBA and really want to move over to a fund. I've got some personal connections with VCs through my current job, but don't really feel like I can go asking the partners at the fund who have invested and are running the company I work at now to give me advice on how to break into VC. I would be telling them that I'm already thinking about leaving if I did right. So that may not be an option.
Need some insight into who the best headhunters are. I'm also looking into the Kauffman Fellows program. Thanks.
