Can you be more specific? Do you want a general accounting book or something specific like IFRS?
IFRS actually. I live in Romania where we have our own standards for reporting. Working in M&A, we have to translate the financial statements in IFRS in order to present the companies to prospective buyers.
Thanks
Accounting Publisher Wiley has very good materials on IFRS. Hope they help you!
Great. I'll check them out. Thanks

Although there are templates for LBO models, etc, I'd like a brush up on basic accting. Any favorites?
"Finance and Accounting for Lawyers" by Michel and Shaked summarizes everything in a nice quick book. That's if you're just brushing up, if you need something very comprehensive this might not be it.
I've got an unopened "4th Edition: Fundamental Financial Accounting Concepts" by Edmonds/McNair/Olds. It's a basic financial accounting book and seems to be solid.
Full disclosure: this is the 4th edition and I use the 5th edition in class. Nonetheless, if you want it we can work something out.
Guys, guys, guys. Dont lose the wood for the trees here. You'll get training when you join (be it full time or intern) and this will be more than enough. Use your free time to chill, have a bud, whatever, but don't use it to brush up on your accounting 101!!! Live a little.
HF SA accounting book? (Originally Posted: 05/16/2010)
What book do you guys recommend for a SA at a distressed debt HF to learn basic accounting? I know jack shit about the subject right now. Should I be looking at a financial accounting book or a financial statement analysis book? Any good workbooks? Ideally no audit or compliance or other boring accountant stuff. Thanks.
Need Help with Advanced Merger/Financial Accounting...Any Suggestions on Books or Courses? (Originally Posted: 08/29/2013)
I have been working as a generalist at a firm for two years prior to my new position. The M&A deals that we conducted were very small and I had a lot of support there from older bankers at Associate and VP level. I went to a very intense, smaller boutique investment bank where we only focus on large scale, highly complex energy M&A. Most of the accounting I learned in school is not applicable/too general for these practices. I have made a few damaging accounting mistakes and need recommendations on how best to sure up my financial and M&A accounting...Many of the reference materials provided are outdated for new laws....What text books or courses are out there that can help me rise to the next level and sure up holes? All inputs are welcome.
