Need help/guidance

Hey everyone -

I am an analyst at a large global bank (non BB or American bank) in coverage (REGL). Deal flow is pretty bad and since I've been here, I've only been on a handful of deals.

I am beginning third year analyst this summer but I really don't know how much longer I can take sitting here and doing nothing. I haven't really thought much of doing an MBA since I came sort of late into banking and would like to just be direct promoted, and I really don't care for REGL.

I am more interested in healthcare or DCM. I have tried reaching out to head hunters and applying online to other banks but don't seem to be making it past screening. Ideally I would like to lateral into a bulge bracket or Wells Fargo.

Does anyone have any guidance how I should approach this? Feel really stuck and unhappy with current situation. And given I'm in starting 3rd year, do I now need to wait until promotion at my current bank before I can try to lateral?

Thanks

You can lateral whenever, but it will be based on need at the firms you are targeting.

Not sure why you aren't getting leads from HHs. I thought they just shit out opportunities to their distribution lists. Like I still get emails and it's been a couple years since I talked to some of these guys.

Have you reached out to alumni in the groups/banks of interest? If there are none, nothing wrong with reaching out to people where you don't really have a connection (just don't expect as high of a hit rate).
