Need some advice or tips of where/how to start my career.

So I've been following WSO on and off for about four years now, and I absolutely love the this website and all that it stands for. This is my first post. I'm happy to see the success that many of the WSO readers have had. So my story - to keep it short, it's been two years since I've graduated from undergrad from a target school, majoring in Finance & Investments with an "okay" GPA, I didn't get any internships for some personal reasons. However, now I'm actively looking to start my career in Finance, any advice on where to start looking for internships or even a job would be very welcomed. A dream job would be in IB or PE but I know I have quite a journey cut out from me to get there. I actively read the WSJ, Times, daily and so forth to keep myself updated.

If anyone would take a look at my resume or any tips on where I could find someone to talk to, would be great.

I don't have the background (yet) to give you the advice you want, but I do have a bit of WSO advice from one new user to another:

There are a lot of people here who will be annoyed by this type of post. Others will just troll. Respect the attitude of the former, ignore the latter. (Or laugh with them since they are often funny).

However, there are lots of people that will be happy to offer advice and will be genuinely happy to hear about your success. In order to get that advice, you should be direct and target people that can specifically help you.

New users that ask broad questions or request resume reviews in their first post come across as using the community infrastructure for their own gain without actively contributing (read: freeloaders). This is often the case, but not always.

My suggestion is to use the search tool to look for threads about people in similar situations, use the site to learn about the industry and the banks, contribute to other threads, offer advice where you can, buy the guides, and continue to post threads petitioning advice. However, when you ask for advice, try to be specific. If you can form your petition for advice in a way that could spark quality discussions, that's a plus.

TL;DR: To get the best advice from the community, contribute to it and avoid general questions. Don't get discouraged by the trolls or the people who are busy doing what you hope to be doing someday.

Best of luck! PM me if you have any specific questions about this or for anything else.
