Networking dilema
First post, but been following site for a while.
I have a networking questions for everyone. I will be a senior at a semi-target next year and am working in a small boutique in my home city which is not a major finance hub. I needed to return home for medical reasons this summer, not by choice.
However, my school is close to a major finance city so a lot of alumni work in finance. I want to start networking for FT positions and accelerated recruiting, but given that I'm thousands of miles away from the bulk of alumni and contacts it is a little difficult. Would I look stupid just asking to speak over the phone to network with people? or I'm I just blowing this way out of proportion and any contact is good contact.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee
WSO is not your personal search function.

Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?
Meet in person if you can.
Meet in person if you can. Talk to them on the phone and then ask if can meet up when you're in town.
You'll be back in a couple of
You'll be back in a couple of months for school right? So just start some dialogue now and say that you'd like to meet up with them when you are back on campus for the fall. Then when you get back follow-up with them and set up some meetings.
This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..
Yeah i will be back in late
Yeah i will be back in late August early Sepember, but FT recruiting starts instantly at my school. So my time to meet in person in very limited. It seems like from some of the posts on wso that just reaching out at all to strike up a phone convo and talk a few times between now and the end of summer should be good.
