If I found an alumni on the alumni directory and linkedin, but email him on his work email rather than one he posted on his alumni profile (from 2 years ago), is that okay? Would it come off weird? If I mention I saw him on the directory but don't use the contact info given?
Thanks

Just email him at work. He's
Just email him at work. He's probably going to check that one more anyways.
one thing to note: if you
one thing to note: if you email him @ his work e-mail, it might get buried among hundreds of other of emails. whereas if you contact him using his old school/personal e-mail, he might actually get to read it.
if I email him @ work..do I
if I email him @ work..do I still mention I saw his name on the directory ?
Email him at work. Lots of
Email him at work. Lots of people don't check their school emails anymore (if that's the one listed). It won't be weird, as most people don't even remember which email they have listed on their many profiles. As long as you make a good impression, how you found his email will be largely irrelevant.
I don't agree with Rambo.
I don't agree with Rambo. I've cold emailed a lot of alumni from my school, and I've used only their work emails. A large number of them did reply, and some replied even weeks after. Many people won't really care where you found their contact information, but you can say either the directory, linkedin, or something else. It really won't matter. Hope this helps.
How about this - Send it to
How about this - Send it to his work email and CC his school email.
How easy was that?
