Depends on what you're looking for. All the trashy college kids will be at places like Turtle Bay in Midtown East. It might be a little to late for something reasonably priced at the Marquee/1OAK/PH-D (if you looking for that kind of experience). I went on a bar crawl once for NYE with some friends and had a good time. Again, really depends on what kind of vibe you want, and if you're with a group, etc.

major club and bar is having a NYE event. They're usually 150-250 /ticket though and are usually super overrated. If you're an Ivy Leaguer, they're doing a pretty cool event for a good price at Cipriani's and another bar.

In any case, NYC is always nuts with new years. If you have friends who are throwing a party, i'd go to one of those rather than deal with the mass of idiots, b&t trash, etc. that flow through on the 31st.

Going out in NYC for New Year's is massively overrated. It's straight up amateur night. If you do it, go somewhere low-key where you know the bar tenders or get bottle service because the pre-pay parties make it impossible to get your drink on. Every random from NJ and LI will be out in full force.

A lot of people that go out regularly in NYC leave town for that weekend to avoid the madness (or for a couple of years we had private loft parties).

Are there some bar crawls or something specific to do? If you just introduce yourself to people and explain that you just got in to the city to be on time to start a job (or whatever), people aren't going to think you're a creeper and will probably in turn introduce you to other people. I would choose spending the time with friends over meeting random people though, and just fly in on the 2nd. As Techbanking said, it will probably be overrated and not worth the time. After you're more established there and get invites to a nice party or two, that's when it gets fun.

You must be a beautiful girl or have not spent that much time in NYC. No one in NYC is that friendly unless they need something from you.

The latter. It does seem a little too optimistic now that I think about it. In my limited time spent there people have been surprisingly friendly, however.

second turtles. lamest shit ever. made me realize that TV is the biggest 'makeup' ever. You will curse yourself five minutes into the mob at time square on new year's eve. don't buy AC 360's crap. get laid, do anything else.

Sure. Im going with a bunch of different bros, from like 21-30. Its a diverse bunch, if thats important, not really into ghetto places. But really whats most important is that the chicks there should be fine, and also the place needs to have enough bars to serve the place. Last year I went to a place that was huge but only had 2 small open bars, so you could only get like 1 or 2 drinks the whole night. We don't want to keep going to the same places that we always go to, we're open to any chill places

I hear Times Square is kind of a big deal.

I prefer a quiet night in. Give me a few friends, a couple bottles of Whiskey, Wine and beer and make it a nice and enjoyable affair to remember. Models and Bottles are a joke for NYE, especially with the absurd ticket prices that people want to get into bars in the first place.

New Years is meant to be with friends and not 100+ people you never met before!
