No banking offers other similar jobs?

I am about to graduate from a target without a banking offer. I'm interested in working on deals and getting a solid experience, what other types of positions and companies should i be looking at? What groups at accounting/consulting firms? or others i might not have though of. My long term goal is private equity and prob going to try and transfer into banking after a year or two at my first job. Any insights are appreciated.

i know many lads in your situation.

one word: bschool

play your cards right over the next 3-4 years and you can come in as an associate

thats what i've been told anyway.

i didn't land an analyst position either (no rejections, all cancellations). landed a sweet job with an international reinsurance brokerage firm. very similar in terms of the business (pitching, modeling, excel work, etc.)

bright side: no IBanking aholes, good pay plus all the spare time to do things I like until I head over to bschool.

What the hell is the MSA? I have never heard of that...unless you are talking about the Mine Safety Appliance certification?

"I'm not sure what the four 9's do, but the ace, I think, is pretty high."

I would say that hardly anyone on this board wants to do banking for life - which is why I cringe whenever someone suggests working for a few years and coming in as an associate after bschool. The most attractive thing about banking is the exit opps; people are dying to get out of banking, not into it. When you come in as an associate, you've become a career banker and your chance at buy-side jobs is nullified.
