Non-target junior in dire situation!!

I'm a junior at a non-target in south florida I have an average g.p.a, I haven't interned anywhere yet and my major is accounting. I was hoping to find some boutique p/e firm to intern for the summer, is that possible or is there no hope for me?

Summer internships are gone by like march or april....
P.S. - where in S. Florida do you go to school? FIU or UM?

check out hig, suncap, hydepark, Brockway Moran, cnl, Raymond James, sun trust-robinson humphrey, cassel salpeter, Cross Keys Capital, Heritage Capital, Allen C. Ewing, and whatever you find on google. your best bet will be a one-man show, maybe an upscale accounting firm that specializes in m&a etc. there are plenty of these 'consultants' around. also check transaction advisory firms or law firms like folely lardner, akerman senterfit, grant thornton, etc. where most attorneys are cpa's. you'll find something but better haul ass.

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!

Thank you guys for the advice. I went to a community college then transferred to a university after 2 years. I started my junior year this summer and I didn't have much hope of getting anything, but I thought i'd ask. If anything i'll try next summer and if it doesn't work out ill get my accounting degree an go for c.p.a. Thank you again you guys respond fast!

p.s destin149 I go to FAU not the best school but it's alright

You're a little late to the party pal, as such there is little to no hope to get one now especially with no work experience. Also, the fact that you have an "average" GPA and are at what sounds like a non-target probably doesn't help much either and you should try for some smaller game stuff before you try to get into a PE firm with no internship experience at the end of June lol.

start thinking about msf programs
Getting an MSF is a horrible idea. All it wil do is delay the inevitable by a year and you'll be an extra 40k in debt. What you need is work experience, get in contact with career services and start calling up alumni and formulating a strategy into getting a job after graduation.
i've heard fulltime recruiting sucks from most of the alumni i've talked to. by going for a msf, you effectively have another year to recruit for an SA position.

Summer internships are not the only internships out there. Look into doing some internships on top of classes when you go back to school. I'm sure there are companies near your school that would be willing to take you on for free if you pitch yourself right. I did internships during the last two semesters and they have been helpful. Even if it's PWM or interning for a small, local accounting firm, it'll fill your resume up better than the white space that it probably has right now.
