Non-Target Schools for UNDERGRADUATE
Hi all,
So I am in a difficult situation. I am currently deciding which undergraduate schools to attend for Finance. My goal is to be earning a six figure salary + land a comparatively high position by the time I get out of undergrad and then go on to continue to get my MBA a few years after I get my Bachelor's.
I am confused as to how much of an impact what undergrad school I go to will affect the level of the position and salary I will get when I graduate. Because of this confusion, I only applied to schools that I knew would give me the most scholarship.. so to get to the point, I want to know which non target undergraduate school I should attend! The choices are: Babson, Northeastern(Honors), and UMASS Amherst(Isenberg school of management- Honors) .
Based off these schools, should i strive to transfer out by the 2nd year to target schools and could you give me some tips as to how to achieve the maximum success in nontarget undergraduate school?

you aren't going to make six figures out of undergrad unless you go to a top computer science school and come out as a rockstar software engineer.

^^ 45k? lol. Anyone with a GED can land a job paying 45k. But yes you would need to transfer to a target to land a 6-figure salary out of undergrad (which is still not a reasonable expectation anyway).

Transfer if possible, otherwise be the top in your class and work 10x harder than target and semi-target students looking to get into finance. To do that you should go to recruiting sessions at other (read: bigger, more targeted) universities in the beginning of your senior year, and by mid-sophomore year, you should be cold calling and actively searching for something hugely important: internship.
Anything is possible. 6 figures (as long as the first digit is '1') is certainly doable out of undergrad.
Of the programs you mentioned the only one I can give advice on is Northeastern. I have a friend there who really enjoys it, they offer some pretty good co-op options. I would try to avoid UMASS simply because it is often just known as a party school, so possible employers would probably group you into that. IMO. Good luck.
I would say Northeastern as well, and after you are in the door and get the IB job your salary is by no means dictated by the prestige of your undergrad degree.
